Saw them for the first time in L.A. Whiskey 1976. Bruce Gary was one of the fastest drummers out there and impeccably well timed. Great band, RIP Bruce and Doug.

I've never heard a band sound as close to their recorded music as The Knack. I read somewhere that it was simply because they recorded the songs the exact same way they had been performing them in the clubs. It's great to see a band that meets/exceeds your expectations.
@gregoryyoung8819 Жыл бұрын
I read that the studio producer didn't have that much to do. The Knack was so well prepared and rehearsed, all he had to do was hit the record button.

Director. He might have been the boyfriend of the drummer with all the camera time during the lead guitar solo. Just a theory.
@scottgould65902 жыл бұрын
Maybe they did that on purpose, so as not to give away the guitar playing of the solo to others. They wanted to protect it at some level.

Cameramen know what they're doing. It was the lead production, editing at the broadcast control room who wasn't listening, nor even looking

Make sure you hear it with the guitar riffs, because their timing is always the same as the original recording. If you listen to this for the first time, you'll see what you missed in the 70's. Although this song hit it big in very early 1980, but the 70's had it all music wise. Ask your Momma. Love to all of you. Nothing but good health and happiness.(3 more great riffs, Come and get your love( with the Native Dance in the beginning), Smoke on the Water, Indian reservation(Paul Revere and the Raiders)

Another cameraman who didn't know who was playing what, so missed most of Berton's Dickie Betts inspired break. Great performance though.
@pendragonU9 ай бұрын
Betts must have been inspired in his turn by some Scotsman's piper, because parts of those progressions are from Scottish traditional pieces for bagpipes.
