I definitely DO NOT want a reboot if they do they will obviously modernize it and censore many things even shorten it to save on animation that would be deemed inappropriate to this day... I definitely don't want to see the children characters using modern slang either Japanese/English to smartphones...

It's strange, I found Kodocha while randomly channel surfing and fell in love with it. I saw it on a satellite channel called ColoursTV and it came on along side Case Closed, Fruit Basket, Slayers and I believe Spiral as well as other anime. Since then, it and Case Closed have become some of my favorite post-2000s dubbed 90's anime.

I'm an Italian fan and I can say that every 2000s kids here have a least one memories about watching 'Rossana' during our childhood, even though it was heavily censored. I recently read the manga and I deeply fell in love with it and with the characters, It surly become one of the best works I've ever read, I'm so glad. Also I can say that with the recent reprint of the manga in Italian, is pretty easy to find it, in book shops too. Also, Mizu no yakata and Deep clear has been traduced. (If someone want to search for the manga in Italian, it's called 'Il Giocattolo dei Bambini' witch is the literal tradition of Kodomo no Omocha)

I'm glad to see finally Kodocha getting the recognition it deserves. Ever since Discotek has made DVD releases I've seen old time fans and even new fans start talking about this anime. Ever since 2021 I've been seeing a lot more talk about this series which makes me happy considering before 2020 most content on KZbin we had for Kodocha was AMVS and a few reviews on the series. I also enjoy the type of things you have on your channel. Keep up the good work.

So after watching your video I decided to do a rewatch of Kodocha and there actually is a very brief moment where you see her dogs from the manga! In episode 8, when Rei is talking to Akitio and Tsuyoshi about his past with Sana, after she takes him in, it shows her when she was younger playing with 3 dogs that look like the ones you showed from the manga!

I reread the manga from time to time as an adult and it's absolutely one of my favourite story. I live in Italy, kodocha is EXTREMELY popular between 90s/early 2000s kids. We’ve all grown up with this anime and anyone can sing the opening! Also its pretty telling the manga was republished like 10+ times and thats not counting the special editions c: I was kinda flabbergasted when I saw that its not as popular internationally haha

I remember seeing a clip of this show once back in 2020- and watched the entire anime series in THAT year and having such a blast… despite it not being too long ago in the grand scheme it’s become nostalgic to me- ( I ADORE the dub and wish the 2nd season got dubbed)

I’ve never watched the dub, I didn’t even know there was one. I watched and read the whole thing in Japanese.

Great channel and great video. I just reread the manga and rewatched the anime (first time in jpn + sub eng, and without censorship) and I'm happy to have found recent videos on the matter. As others have said, I'm shocked that Kodocha isn't well known abroad, as it's very popular here in Italy. To be honest though, I ended up considering Rossana (the Italian version) as its own thing, separate from the original material. Censorship, changed dialogues, different names. The very last scene was cut for example, so it ends with the promises on the rooftop. It's still Kodocha though and I loved it as a teen

I went to find English dubbed episodes to watch online, and instantly fell in love with the series. I bought the Blu-ray and binged the whole first series. I am eagerly waiting for the second series Blu-ray, which is still being worked on. (They've said there's a lot of subtitling to do.)

Came because it got recommended after OP Multilanguage uploaded a video of the Kodocha OPs in different languages, but stayed for the interesting content & some mysterious lost media. Okay, definitely not AS mysterious as Akazukin ChaCha(HOOOOOO BOY is that one a whole other can of worms), but some of the stuff in this iceberg are quite mysterious like that stage show. It has that "obscure syndicated cartoon" vibe to it if you catch my drift.

@@thatkodochagirl Yeah that one is a really good anime & the anime is easily available on KZbin because the owners haven't taken any episodes down(well, one channel that had the whole Japanese original with English fansubs got terminated, but that was for some other anime, likely Slam Dunk). Weirdly enough, there are THREE English dubs that are known to exist: One by Creative Products(who also produced ones for Dragon Ball, Z & some movies for GMA) that was made in 1996, but didn't start airing until a year later, suggesting that the dub was being pitched around different networks before it landed on Cartoon Network Philippines & then in 1998 it would air on Cartoon Network in Southeast Asia. It's also said to have aired in Japan, & there is a possibility that some local TV station in like Wyoming or New Orelans might've aired that dub but nobody knows for sure. Only 8 episodes of Creative Products' dub have ever surfaced so far, but audio clips of other episodes have surfaced on some fansites of the yesteryears. There are also the dubs that aired on Channel i in Singapore & AXN in Hong Kong. Those 2 dubs are completely lost to my knowledge & I have no idea on WHO made them. Cartoon Network Southeast Asia also aired Mandarin Taiwanese & Thai dubs around the same time as different audio tracks, meanwhile a Mandarin Chinese dub aired on Momo around the mid 2000s. A Cantonese dub also existed on ATV & most episodes of it have been found, but there are still some missing episodes. Outside of the whole dub mess, it seems that the 2012 reboot manga Akazukin ChaCha N, which took place in Tokyo, is barely even known about & is likely mostly lost media outside of some pages & the covers, though I could easily be proven wrong. And then there is the mysterious 3 OVAs that came after the 3rd TV season. While the OVAs are readily available in Japanese, no one seems to know for sure if these really were just OVAs, or if they were 3 episodes from a planned, but unaired 4th season of some kind. Even more mysterious is a 5th season, which was reported to exist on a fansite called Akazukin ChaCha Archive(look for it on the Wayback Machine if you want to access it) & would've taken place at least 7 years after seasons 1-4. And that's not even getting to the original 1991 manga that predates the 1994 anime, which has entire characters that never appear in the manga & the anime has certain characters that are exclusive to the anime. Don't know if N has any exclusive characters, but it wouldn't surprise me really. Heck, was the 1991 manga really even the original manga? Min Ayahana likely won't answer since, again, she more or less disappeared without a trace compared to most other mangaka which while definitely mysterious since privacy issues are serious business in Japan, at least we know the amount of manga they were known to produced. But Min? Only 2 other manga are known to have been made by her, Pyon & Go n Dai o korose! Wikipedia also lists one called Warera High School Hero, but I'm not entirely sure if that one actually exists or not & honestly, who the heck knows what other unknown manga she has done around the years, possibly even an *earlier* Akazukin ChaCha manga from the 1980s featuring different versions of the characters than what would exist later on. I mean, was she even the true creator of Akazukin ChaCha? That is something I want to know since some people are known to lie about creating things, like Gary Acord or Majestic Studios of Limbo of the Lost infamy. She could've very well stolen the idea from someone else & was able to get away with it because the original creator could've very well disappeared around the time her manga came out. So many questions & so little answers & whatever answers come up only lead to more questions.

Since I live in France, I watched Kodocha with french subtitles, and episode 103 was never meant to be. After the "preview of episode 103" on episode 102, there's another scene, where you see Sana and Babbit narrating with a mic, and here's what they say : Sana : Thanks for following Kodocha during all this time ! Babbit : It was long, really Sana : Two years!! Babbit : The Kodocha series is over now... Sana : But Kodocha will always continue somewhere for all of us!! Babbit : Maybe Babbit will come to your house to make fun comments! Sana : If someday you're depressed, listen to a little bit of "Sana Samba" Babbit : It's the song that is playing right now! Sana : Let's live a life full of energy!!! Babbit : Yes, and a carefree one! Sana : So, let's go, Babbi-chan! Babbit : Yes, all together! Everyone : Take care of you! Bye-bye!!! Random white dolphin (lol) : WHITE DOLPHIN!! Babbit : Hey, you!!! Here's the link to the video : www.anime-ultime.net/info-0-1/17088/Kodomo-no-Omocha-102-vostfr You need to choose the SECOND video. The first one doesn't work, it's a link for the episode 1. It's really at the end of the video I think it was just a way to tell us that the story is not "really over", we need to imagine what would happen for the characters after the last episode but there wasn't meant to be a continuation
