Also, one thing i like about this show is how they understand kids are not idiots. They understand things adults say and do, and sometimes it afects the way they see themselfs and their lives,just like in Akito case. As a future kids teacher, seeing this more realistc portray of children is very refreshing.
@CatsEverywhere33 Жыл бұрын
Yesss i also loved it, i often see kids portrayed as not very smart. Like not stupid but not smart either so this was really nice to see

Kodacha is one of those stories where you don’t realize how unique and well written it is (filler aside) until you examine it in the wider context of the school drama shoujo genre. It’s wild, but also takes the opportunity to explore complex themes and topics not frequently applied to middle school kids. The focus on exploring non-romantic interpersonal relationships and their value/complexity particularly stands out to me. My heart belongs to the manga. Uh-oh…looking at your channel, I think we share a lot of the same taste in shows and topics. I guess it’s time to binge your backlog. you got me.

FINALLY Kodocha is getting the love it deserves!!! Great video; I loved your analysis and summary of the series. I also really love how the female characters in this show are such girlbosses. They aren't one dimensional or solely romance obsessed. Thank you thank you thank you for this video! ❤

What I love about Kodocha is that HOW strong each character is. Honestly Sana and Akito are so much more mature than most adults were in this drama. Another fav. factor of mine of the series is how every single main character has such a dark and heavy background (especially Akito and Sana)... thank u for this video!!

I remembered watching Kodocha and feeling like I was watching a mexican telenovela, so much drama in a corny, adorable and compelling way, full with cliffhangers. All of this makes that one can't stop watching, I loved it so much.

How did I just realize that the voice actress for Sana is Laura Bailey who voiced Tohru Honda in Fruits Basket AND the actor for Akito is Jerry Jewel who voices Kyo in fruits basket. This satisfied something in my heart. No wonder when Fruits Basket came out I immediately loved the characters. (the English voice actors)

YES YES YES I LOVE THIS VIDEO. Kodocha is genuinely such a wonderful series, and so, so surprisingly serious and dark in particular spots (esp in the manga) that gets handled BEAUTIFULLY. Kodocha feels so underrated, so I'm so glad to see you hyping it up. Also-- Loving the set up. The banana light is cute.

I would never recommend the anime. HOWEVER the manga is an undisputed masterpiece that I will fight for until my last dying breath (although I’ll admit the last couple volumes aren’t very satisfying). It is so beautifully written. The anime adds so many unnecessary arcs, a way more childish tone, and cuts out so much more serious/darker/ more mature content that really made the manga shine, while the anime remains much more so for kids. Love the video tho, I wish I saw more people talking about this fr!!

Never got into the anime, I thought it was atrocious with the bat thing and how Sana had those moments when she was like... rapping? They were definitely aiming to little kids with that. The manga on the other hand is a GEM. It's one of my favorites, has great writing, the comedy is hilarious (my fave part is the "are you two named hello?" moment, I go to the manga from time to time just to read that part 😂), and the sad moments hit hard. Just one of the best shoujo manga on history

Also season 1 of Kodocha actually has a different opening theme that we did not get in America. The American version uses the season 2 opening theme. That's why it doesn't change. The reason for this was because when getting the localizing rights for Kodocha, for some reason they were unable to get the rights to the season 1 song. So they had to remove the first opening theme as well one of the first episode in the show uses the season 1 opening theme as an insert song and music was completely removed from that scene. They didn't even add a different song so it's comically silent during that part (though it was only like 30 seconds that song originially played). XD

I haven't seen the anime, just read the manga and it has such dark story elements that I guess you could say it was my first dramedy. In the manga (or at least the Tokyopop translation), Sana's biological father was Keiko's uncle, meaning Sana was conceived through familial sexual abuse! Yeah I agree with that commenter that WHAT WAS THE ANIME STAFF THINKING having him appear, giving him a name and the prominence he got and asking us to like him?!! Fun fact: Instead of New York, Sana goes to the Japanese countryside with Naozumi and Asako to act in a ghost story movie, which you can read as a separate manga. The title is "Mizu no Yakata" or Mansion of Water.

Recently i finished reading the kodocha manga and feel in love with it. I did not watch the show in my childhood since it was not licensed in my country( i live in Brazil) but found the opening in yt when i was younger an loved it. So it has been in my plan to watch for years. This year i finally found some time and decided to read the manga first and then watched the anime. I must say i loved both, but the manga is better and has very dark stories in the last two volumes that unfortunaly were never adapted. The anime is very good, but i feel it has many fillers and episodes.Oh, i also dont like Takeshi arc.And honestly i hate the ending. 102 episodes and not even a confession?? But overall, kodocha is pure gold. Great characters, story, great messages, great and important themes, amazing comedy and the main couple has one of the most beutiful and honest relantionship i have seen in anime. These two are way to mature emotionaly for their age. Overall, kodocha manga became one of my all time favorites, along with Sana and Akito being one of my new favorite characters. I loved the anime too, but still think the manga is better. Thank you for the video! I feel bad nobady talks about kodocha anymore. Is such a great anime/manga and deals with so many themes that were kind of taboo at the time. One of the best shoujos ever made! Sorry for the bad english, you just winned a new subscriver! :D

If you want to support the series officially and have the money to do so, Kodocha has actually been license rescued by Discotek. Season 1 is on Blu-ray & season 2 will hopefully be coming this year. If not it was on the usual suspect non-official sites but you might find some issues with the eps. Some sound gets cut in some S1 episodes if the site’s pulling from certain earlier America releases due to copyright issues with a song. And since season 2 was never officially released you’ll end up with a really mixed bag of fansubs.

In defense? Wait, are people having problems with Kodomo no Omocha? Why does it need to be defended? This series was ALWAYS amazing. Sana was a strong female lead, but didn't forget her kindness. It had so many realistic problems. I was SO upset when the full series didn't get DVD releases. I have all the DVDs they ever made. And this series legit made me feel validated as a kid when I had to wrangle the boys in my class under control since it was my teacher's first year and she had 2 emotional breakdowns and could never get the boys to behave. The misbehaving boys only ever respected and listened to one other boys who was quiet and never got involved in the chaos or bad behavior. I ended up befriending the quiet boy they listened to and sometimes he'd tell the guys to stop whenever I asked him to. But most of the time it was just me butting heads with the misbehaving boys myself to get them to stop. This show literally made me feel like there was hope for TV shows actually being kind of realistic and teaching girls some good lessons.❤

Girl how did you leave out the field trip kiss, Christmas kiss, and the whole Mansion of Water arc where Sana gets attacked and almost dies in a fire?
@whade62000 Жыл бұрын
I don't like the term "girlboss" because it's a word also being used to criticize badly written corporate woman characters who are bossy, rude and unlikeable. Are we really at a point where we put that term on every girl that's well written? Thankfully shojo manga abounds with well written girl characters who are confident, have fun and entertaining quirks, yet also behave realistically for their age (in other words, role models).
