It has recently been brought to my attention that the costumes for DW8 can be bought through the Complete Edition on PS4. This is an oversight on my part as I do not make purchases through console or gaming interface, and the PSN site only lists the PS3 version of the DLC. Thank you *avataboo* for bringing this to my attention, an I am sorry for the misinformation. This will come up in the next update video.

Thank you so much for this!! My biggest issue with Koei is how lazy (and greedy) they've become with their localization. I first noticed it back with Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn. Not only was it the only game in the series with no english dub, it was also digital only for near full price! At the time i was annoyed but i rode it off as more Namco's doing, since they've since been doing lazy subtitle only releases since then for alot of their anime licensed titles. But then i saw Koei removing the dubs from their own established series like Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, which had them in the beginning. But it really got bad this year when they released the latest Atelier titles, Lydie and Suelle, as a subtitle only game. That series has always had an english dub which i enjoyed and it made me like Koei for taking the time to include it, when bigger publishers like Namco were too lazy. God i don't know where that series will go from now on. I imagine it will continue down this road, so Koei can keep a profit. It wouldn't be so bad if they at least reflected this in the game's pricing. Theres no reason to charge full price for titles that clearly haven't had the same localization effort as past games. Even if they only reduced these games to $50, that would be better than nothing.

@@Moonslayer01 i think the combat system, on paper, is a really good idea, however it is executed very poorly. If you play the game normally, you don't see much of an issue, but when you start to play the side challenges, and said challenges requires you to fight more then 2 enemy officers, the whole combat system starts to crumble and starts to feel clunky and sometimes, unresponsive to the command that you give.

Koei's laziness has been particularly abhorrent in recent years. MOST of their games feel entirely unfinished nowadays. Stemming from the fact they feel the need to oversaturate the market with 2-3 Warriors games a YEAR (Ubisoft gets crap here giving a yearly Assassin's Creed release, and Koei tries to triple that number), as well as the fact most of their products are just rampant corner cutting. All of their games in recent times have either been shoddily finished with the nucleus of a good idea, or an asset flip of their own assets. Spirit of Sanada was great... why couldn't this have just been SW4 DLC? Same with SW4-2 Why was Warriors All Stars basically a quarter of a game that they just decided to run through save-scrubbing? Why have they not bothered to update the movesets for Fu Xi and Nuwa in Warriors Orochi 4, even though they've been using the same movesets since Dynasty Warriors 5. Koei's laziness is going to be the death of them.

@UGOTNUKED6 жыл бұрын
The Samurai Warriors 4 asset reuse was especially egregious. SW 4 was great, 4-2 was not. Empires was okay. Okay, here are our 3 games as always. But wait, here is Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3, which is literally SW4 with a different, better progression system. It was actually a great game, but just 4 again. Same characters, same stages, nothing new. Then we got SW Spirit of Sanada, which is one of my favorite Musous to date and a direction I hope they will go in more often. But again, it's just SW4 with a different story focus. And of course we're going to use the assets and movesets again in Warriors Orochi 4. That means they reused the same assets in 6 different games. Which was especially problematic since SW4 had this stupid level up system where your characters would start out with only a fraction of their moves. But the bigger problem with KT is actually Gust. Their games suffer the most and often feel unfinished and rushed. Oh, and don't get me started on the shitty port quality to other systems, where it's clear they don't spend any time or budget on.

Okay, I agree with Koei Tecmo chasing trends, but I have to at least defend Nioh and Toukiden because Nioh and Toukiden were actually fun and unique enough to stand differently from other games like them. Nioh had an in depth combat system compared to Dark Souls' simplistic combat and Toukiden brought an interesting, Shinto spin on a Monster Hunter-style game for people who enjoy more Eastern Culture Monsters than Western Culture ones. There's a reason why those two ended up getting sequels. Not to mention, still really good sequels.

Good video. Koei has always had some funky shadiness behind their history, and think the present-day has shown Koei's true colors. They have truly deviated from their humble beginnings and just want to make hack-jobs for full price games, and then make an 'improvement' edition of a game, only giving marginal changes to the same game for the same price, which alienates early adopters and fans. Also, you spelled 'KoeiTecmo' wrong in the hashtags, and Cao Pi is still using his DW6 sword instead of the DW6Special sword in the 4:20 explanation. Minor nitpick, couldn't help but notice. The prices remain stagnant, with the thumbnail representing the game almost becoming a gravestone of sorts...born at a bad price, forgotten about, n now areminder of just how lost to time some digital only media could become. Just drop by Amazon a couple months after any of the games you mentioned released, and they're generally about $25 to $30 off on a regular day. On a good day however, $19.99. Edit---OF COURSE after a good couple years/late into a console's lifespan, the prices I mentioned automatically go in the opposite direction. And every Japanese developed title from the first 2 years of that generation automatically become "rare". Bc resellers are idiots, who generally know nothing about the stuff they're peddling to unsuspecting game fans (purposely differentiating from collectors) and ruin any enjoyment left in game collecting.

I really think that KT has yet to learn from their past mistakes on creating a complete and exciting game in their catalogue without cutting corners to make money for DLCs. Unfortunately, if they really want to regain our trust in their company's ability to make a satisfying gaming experience, they really have to try their very best to release Warriors Orochi 4 and Dead or Alive 6 with the highest reception of fan approval in both the console and PC versions. That's a lot of plates to juggle for them, compare to 8 years ago.

Did you look at the seasonpass for Blue Reflection, besides it's launch price was around €60, same with NoZ2 + they removed free dlc 2 weeks after launch. People getting game later miss out. Sure the prices sometimes dropped ~6 months later, probably due this. Atelier Lydie & Suelle €60+€80 seasonpass, here in EU the standard physical version had no preorder dlc like the rest of the world, they didn't bother to clarify nor make up for that, while advertising with it. Atelier Nelke will probably be the same as there's a €80 seasonpass for that game in JP. Btw the CE's of those games cost £89 without shipping only & that price rarely drops too. The prices are same in US but with $. We pay more here in EU a lot of people just don't know as they get game on sale after diehard fans buy/import if they know. Also in the past those games had english dubs (luckily I prefer with sub) so people that bought games because of that will lose out now too, as they went to sub only for same price h those seasonpass on top off that. We already don't even get all dlc as JP either & pay more in the long run.

I never understood the "Lack of english dubs=lazy" thing that a lot of people like to say. I mean, dubs, even if it's made by non-union actors, cost a lot of money. Money wasted on niche titles mostly where adding a dub will limit the profit of a game. I understand that not everyone has the patience to either read subtitles or learn a new language but if you complain about japanese games having japanese voices that would be like complaining that Terminator is about robots. However, I can understand how a lack of english dub can be see as a deterrent since I also refuse to buy games for a lack of dubs. I didn't buy Blazblue Central Fiction because of its lack of an english dub. But that's because, before CF, every Blazblue games before always has an english dub. And that's upset a lot of people since that meant that instead of giving the fans the opportunity to give Patrick Seitz the chance to tell the final chaper of Ragna's story, they decided to rush the release date because E-Sports. I'm not upset when games like Yakuza or Senran Kagura (which is as fast paced as Dynasty Warriors) aren't dubbed. I'm upset when a game from a long franchise never gets a dub despite how they were dubbed in the past. (This is why I don't buy Atelier Lydie and Suelle. Because, despite being the last entry of a trilogy, they didn't dub this one) Heck. I'm pondering if I should buy Strange Journey Redux despite its lack of english dub since the SMT franchise always came up with english dubs even though I'm not too fond of the Persona games localisation (Not a huge fan of japanese honorifics in english scripts said by english actors).

Literally, especially in DW8 and DW8XL, the XL just becomes a complete copy and paste of the base DW that they released first but with slightly new content that could easily be an expansion for a reasonable price. I felt the same with almost all DWs and SWs as well. Unfortunately we are in the era where companies will do moves like this, just to earn an extra buck. To a degree I understand with wanting to get as much profit as possible but at the end of the day, if they just wait a little longer, get all that content that they left out in the base DWs & SWs to put into the XLs and just put into one game. There wouldn't be as many complaints, and much more profit {in my personal unprofessional opinion} because you'll have a COMPLETE game that people would give so much better reviews on! But yeah! Not gonna lie: do like the idea of open-world Dynasty Warriors, just probably not how it was executed. Like you could have it that multiple battles could be happening in the same area, but depending on if previous areas had been engaged and liberated/conquered before engaging another conflict near said previous encounters, you could be rewarded with extra reinforcements coming in at crucial moments like when the enemy summons reinforcements or new weapons to lower your troop morale or when you have to prevent them from escaping battle. I do see that TK kind of has been screwing up with some of it's entries, even though some of their spinoffs have been pretty fun at times. Heck, I bought Razor's Edge mostly based on the newer content, but I recall it not being that good at time, and for DoA...I kind of weep for DoA...I'm honestly hoping they get their house in order, because I really want to try all of the Warrior entries and even the other stuff they bring in, but not at the expense of losing out on content that was probably available/more efficient on previous entries. (Heck, not counting the Zelda and the Gundam spinoffs, Xtreme Legends 8 on Vita was my first DW experience, and that game was fun.)

No talk about Dissidia NT being a lackluster port where KT/Team Ninja solely focus on the arcade version in Japan while relying on crappy peer-to-peer connection and smaller and less-frequently-updated content in the console version and a lot of the movesets and information only recently having an English translation online while the F2P mobile game Dissidia Opera Omnia gets advertised more?

My biggest issue with KT is that we need a current gen monster rancher. It was a great franchise but being on a home console before we could connect consoles to the internet held it back. I would pay full game price ($60) if they they remastered MR2 and gave it online vs.

Me: I just want Ninja Gaiden 4 and maybe a re-release of the 3D games on newer consoles. Tecmo: Sure thing, we-- [gets cut off by Omega Force] Omega Force: What's that? You want more Warriors games? Don't worry, bro. I got you covered. Me: That's not what I asked...

"The Xtreme Legends disc swapping" - that is not true. The expansion doesn't require you to swap disc to the base game because it needs to transfer data, it does that to make sure you've purchased both the base game and the expansion. DW7XL on PS3 allows you to skip the disc swapping for 2 days if you are logged into PSN, so it's definitely not for data transferring purposes. Also, DW8 still went for the base game - Xtreme Legends business model on PS3. The bundle which contains contents from both games is the Complete Edition that was later released on PS4 and Steam (a "Complete Edition" which still have $150+ worth of DLCs missing...but that's KOEI for you), this was partly done due to a copyright dispute with Capcom, but the initial release of the game was still split into two parts like all the other titles.

I love the warriors series for years I really like the orochi series too. I had normal sight when I was a young teenager but I have a progressive sight loss condition (severely sight impaired, have to sit right in front of screen if I have to read text, have to pause to see the map, but generally manage fine with gameplay) and I'm playing through wo4u and it's such a pain in the ass, I used to be able to play and read the te t but now I have to pause every few minutes to read the walls of dialogue in case I miss any important parts. Why is there endless talking?? If they're going to have so much text in a combat game at least dub!! It sucks so much of the fun out of the games.

Before the merge I remember Tecmo at least having discount sales but koei......forget about it, never ever has a sale. Old games at full prize ridiculous, and I almost waited for a discount on Warriors: Legends of Troy which was only digital on Xbox 360, and physical only PS3. I bought it before it disappear from the marketplace which lasted less than a year of availability.

Just let you know that, SW 4-2 is not spelled as SW four-two but rather as SW 4-II as you know from the included new char Naomasa Ii Point being, I do agreed with your point about sickeningly varied version of SW 4 that wasn't available in all console as someone who jumps from ps3 into PC, its very frustrating I cannot get the maim version and the empires on PC. I hope they will release the complete edition of SW4 is objectively the best musou game ever

If Koei wanted to easily make tons of money, all they need to do is remaster DW3-5 for PC and console/handheld. I would pay a full $60 to play DW4 and Warriors Orochi 2 if it was on steam.

To be fair on Toukidens part, for ps4 both games had demos (not that I don't agree with you though) KT is super lazy.Just give me my damn DW Empires dubs! And make it like 5, where the characters actually felt like they were doing something. Btw I think you're idea on DOA isn't too far off but I think the main reason they toned it down is for that E-sports money (it's gotten really popular) and as such they have to tone it down. Even SFV had do do this.

As a Guy Before I watch this video I've always Suspected for some time that there was some kind of Warriors Burnout within KT or at the very least Stagnation. Though the Goddamn SECOND that I saw them Making the Ten Eunuch's Rebellion as DLC Locked into YUAN SHU's Story in DW9! I was SO MAD! At this point I've adopted a similar stance I'm taking with certain Legacy Franchises where it goes: "Okay I may not support you in everything but you do good enough work (Dynasty Warriors Classic System) however I will be among the First to support its competitors (be they Senran Kagura, Fate Extella, Sengoku Basara, or any other dynasty Warriors Challenger that comes forward)

There's a lot I would like to say about KT... Honestly this youtube comment wouldnt even encapsulate my evergrowing irritation I have with KT right now. I'll cut down on what i've got to say otherwise it would go on. I agree with what you say in most of the video, *The laziness, the lack of dubs, cutting corners ect*. Nioh was decent enough that it could stand on its own unlike similar souls likes but thats about it. Then comes DOA, hmm... to be pefectly honest I dont care for the fanservice ...or just fanservice as a whole really but rather the greed ridden shithole the 5th game is known for, multiple re-releases and a boatload of dlc that could make EA giddy with glee as well as false interviews. Oh that xtreme game as well also ridden with microtranactions and dlc from what i hear... Anyways I'll end my rant here . On a more unrelated positive note*Sees Disgaea gives automatic thumbs up!

when koei becomes an EA wannabe
@layzeegamerj41976 жыл бұрын
KT is becoming the EA of Japanese companies. It's not only the lack of English dubs in their games, but KT America's translation are crap. Even NISA has less typos in their games then KT America! Also look at the Atelier Lydie season pass, 80 dollars! Their DLC practices are the worst of the worst. They ruined Gust with their laziness and greed. As for KT's main series. Look at the DLC for DOA5. Who's going to waste money on hundreds of overpriced costumes? Warriors games also have their share of overpriced DLC. Right now Namco, Square Enix, and Capcom are all putting effort into their future, but Koei Tecmo has been declining over the past few years. They need a long look at themselves.
@angelyangel83985 жыл бұрын
Well actually they're already worse if you look at those €80 season passes OP prices & bad management here...If only Gust could leave them. I feel like complety boycotting them now, since things got worser I don't feel like supporting such greedy & poisonous companies, because they don't seem to learn. I don't mind them going out of business at all. This behaviour shouldn't be rewarded.

I swear one final day where Koei shall go bankrupt would be the day where they will be regret terribly for not listening to the other fans and not include dubs for WO3 and WO4. Same manners for not realeasing Multi Raid 2 in english for PSP which is pretty pathetic

I truly love the games that KT puts out, especially under Gust, but GEEZE. I literally found this video because I was annoyed at yet ANOTHER limited timed DLC for Atelier that I missed because I got Lulua 4 years after release. So STUPID. KT must think they're Nintendo with those prices, but I can't seem to compare the quality. I can't believe Nights of Azure is STILL full price lol. Blue Reflection is amazing but drop the friggin price so more people can join us as fans! And what is going on with Dynasty Warriors!? And now they're censoring games. DOA is already DOA so I'm not even bothered anymore. I tried jumping from Pokemon to Atelier and I find myself in the hands of... well, this.
