The F-22 didn't make its first flight until 1997. The CKAN and Kommunist forces at this point have about 1987 level technology. Nuclear weapons are not off the table though.

I mostly used CKAN. It is was a little tricky. Mostly with the defense contractor pack and BDArmory Plus. I had to manually install the defense contract pack.

@@clayel1 We don't really know much yet. I know even with my i9-12900KF and RTX3080, KSP can run very poorly depending on how much is going on. In more complex scenarios even my set up is more like seconds per frame.

Just to comment on the choice of armor for the shuttle, IRL titanium is actually very heat sensitive and tends to burn. This is why cutting titanium on a mill or router requires a lot of coolant and lubricant, using a plasma torch or a laser cutter is out of the question, and water-jetting is preferred. And it's also why you need a very specialized welder, called a TIG welder, to weld titanium.
