absolutely destroyed going tank. Went crown into frozen heart felt phenomenal. For runes I tried Fleet, but I noticed this korean player also has been trying First Strike. Both felt great. However my team definitely was tilted with me farming sidelanes more than araming. Was 2/4.. ended the game 14/4.. farmed til lvl 16, didn't fight pointless fights that my team was losing horribly. Once I had items, I literally went in smashing. Felt unkillable like a fed Sylas. GGs.

Guys as a low elo gold kass main, I tried this strat but still prefer luden all damage build in my rank and below. This tanky one is extremely good at cleaning up which I think it's great in diamond and above but in low elo you might want max stat ultimate to R+flash killing everyone in the fight and hourglass to carry. @@Miriminss I have no problem with crown which is also a great item for me if I think my damage is enough or when it’s behind. However I still prefer another one instead of the tear tank item because you still need some ap. You can rush glacial buckler/seeker’s armguard against ad mid laners if you have pressure in early game. In short, my preference is still luden/crown/everfrost(when my team is fed enough/have no Cc at all)+ all damage in all ranks below diamond.

Any AD assassin mid lane is difficult for Kassadin, so Zed, Qiyana and to a lesser extent Talon. Talon has less mobility in the lane but he has high kill pressure level 2. Other AD champions also do well into Kassadin such as Yone and Yasuo, and they outsustain him once they get their IBS (they got free wave clear since they don't use mana, which will cause a war of attrition where Kassadin will be forced to back because he will go OOM trying to wave clear, though Kassadin outscale them at level 6 and onward and can win trades really well once he does. You can also absolutely cheese Kassadin by picking an ADC such as Akshan, Graves, Tristana, Lucian, Jhin or Sivir, who all got high early burst damage, since he can't reliably poke you back. I'd say Jhin is the most difficult to play out of those picks, because while he has very high raw 1v1 damage, it's all about his 4th shot, and he has the worst wave clear. Jhin is also the champion Kassadin has the easiest time to roll over once he hits level 6 since Jhin has no real reliable escape tools and since he's against a burst champion, he would have to build some kind of tanky setup such as Eclipse or IBS. Jhin also can't reliably counter roam Kassadin. Caitlyn functions similar to Jhin and her benefit is longer range for harass, but she is also more vulnable because her damage comes from headshots and Q poke, and one requires Kassadin to misposition and the other requires her to land an easy to dodge skill shot with high mana cost, and if your pick completely relies on the enemy being bad in general, you're probably better off with something else. If you want to poke from afar, I think Sivir is a much better and safer pick. Her extremely powerful wave clear also ensures that Kassadin will have to choose between trading with her vs picking up his farm, and she can abuse this to create good roam or reset timers for herself. Her ultimate is also valuable no matter the game state, especially if you play towards your jungler, and she can also block some of Kassadin's damage with her shield which makes her slightly more durable than the other mid laner picks. Another benefit with Sivir is that you can choose between building lethality or crit based on what your team needs. Lethality is better for the lane but crit scales better into the late game. Tristana has the best 1v1 burst out of all of them though, and Lucian is probably the safest pick but also has the worst scaling and becomes pretty useless in the late game. What applies to Lucian also applies to Akshan, though I think Akshan's playstyle is much closer to TF's so his job is not necessarily to win the lane anyway, because he can't do that after a certain point regardless, so he just needs to play a bit like Master Yi or Viego in that he's just at the right moment at the right time, using his passive to cleanup coinflip fights and resets his team mates in order to create a tempo where Kassadin can't keep up. I don't think anyone in low elo can play Akshan well because they don't understand this portion of Akshan's identity. Vayne is a potential pick into Kassadin because she has the best late game 1v1 potential but requires you to be able pilot her extremely well, since this pick completely relies on your ability to mechanically outplay Kassadin. Varus *can* be picked but I see him as the least viable option because he is immobile and just doesn't do enough damage early. His Q poke is also on a very long CD. If you want to play Varus mid into Kassadin, you're better of playing an actual poke mage like Xerath that also scales way better than Varus. If I was Kassadin I'd probably ban Yasuo, Qiyana or Zed, as they are the most likely to be picked if you blind pick Kassadin, but you may also see cheesy picks like AD bruisers that can match Kassadin's raw base stats like Darius or Renekton, so I'd say it's difficult to really predict. Out of the current meta, I'd probably ban Qiyana or Akshan, but it depends on the elo. I'd probably ban Qiyana more in low elo and Akshan more in high elo since a high elo player understands Akshan's role in the team much better. I think a good Qiyana or Zed in particular are always a threat to Kassadin though, just like how we saw how Qiyana could pop even this tank build Kassadin at any point in the game. The weirdest pick which is super coinflip but can work is Pyke mid, because of how hard he can accelerate the game pace so Kassadin just never gets to properly scale. I suppose AD Akali that's been popping off in the top lane could also be really annoying for Kassadin to deal with, since she's really tanky with a bruiser setup and has good escape tools that makes her difficult to pin down in the side lane, though I don't think she has the damage to 1v1 Kassadin since she's building bruiser, but it also means that Kassadin building tanky by stacking armor and HP is less relevant since AD Akali is intended to do HP% damage, and since her AD damage is converted into magic, Kassadin stacking armor is also useless. Seems like a skill matchup to me, though I feel that Kassadin probably do outscale her. tl;dr Ban Yasuo, Qiyana and Zed, but other worthy picks are Akshan and Lucian.

It also means that frozen hearts mana converts to ability haste. You are only losing 80 ap which is a tiny amount. Being able to be the tank is huge and also kassa flanks are so hard to beat.

Ingenious hunter is such a gross rune right now. You get haste on all item passives and actives. This means a champ like Kass can get lowered cd on sheen procs, shattered queen/ludens, tear stacking and fimbulwinter activation and zhonyas. Even predator gets a lower cooldown. I think ingenious is infinitely better than ultimate hunter its insane!

I didn't understand. Kassadin barely had any impact/agency the entire game. Yeah he had 10 kills for awhile there, but most of those were picking up stragglers with less than 5% HP (which is fine, point being, had his team not done most of the lifting, this wouldn't have been a win), plus the baron steal by maokai also kept them from losing the game. Enemy team had one poor team fight at the end that cost them the game - but I still don't see where Kassadin really had that big of an impact on the overall game. Feels more like the enemy team lost, rather than kassadin's team won. I might have to rewatch it and see what I'm missing on this one.

yeah, thats how league works, its a team game, nobody solo carries in KR grandmaster because those players r actually not dumb, the idea of solo carrying and 1v9ing is purely that, just an idea. kass is low agency early, especially when ur team falls behind early-mid, and considering the elo its a lot to expect from someone on a weak early game champ

Why are people so obsessed with ultimate hunter on Kassadin? It's such a teeny difference in the cooldown by lategame; compare that to ingenious hunter reducing Zhonya's, Fimbul, trinket, etc. The goal is to win, not have the lowest ultimate cooldown possible [at the expense of everything else]. It reminds me of when people used to do full healing Vlad, rather than just doing the best build, "Vladimir heals, so what I need to do is cripple my damage to get more healing!"
