Any ship like the Steel would need to work in concert with support and fighters for cover. It is not a front line assault vehicle, more a dropship for reinforcement. Armor will likely change it's meta, but it seems to be more intended as an NPC enemy. Same goes with the DS being for Cave mining, and the copilot in the Antares doing scanning and E Warfare. We won't know until all the mechanics are working as intended

I think one of my favorite things about Drake Defensecon is that just like all their ships, the con itself seems only about half polished. In the regular con, it's a well-polished space, where every visible surface is clean, well built out and looks great. In the defensecon, you can see the hanger bay the con is taking place in between all the colored panels, and all the carts / boxes that the decorations came in along the sides / back. It is such a good example of drake as a whole. I really think they missed an opportunity to invite small arms manufacturers to put up displays, akin to how the ship weapons had displays at invictus. I just think that it would have been very on the nose for them to do, and would work well because I think ALL of the drake ships have interior weapon lockers.

The tractor beam is disabled in Armistice zones during the Invictus week because people used it to tractor beam the ship components out of the display ships and from the side displays during the evocatii time. You can use it in the Hangar now though, and it will likely be enabled again after the invictus week.

It was disabled because people where trolling in ARM zones. Things like using corpses to push you away from ASOP. They got green zoned in hangers so you could tweak your own ships gear/cargo.

Part of the rework of the Caterpillar is going to be that those cargo doors on the sides double as cargo _lifts_ . The railings can be seen already, and those doors will slide down to give each bay two dedicated elevators.

Hey Ollie, just in case you read this, capital ships are the gigantic ones. The Javelin, Idris, and 890 are co sidereal capital. Hammerhead, Reclaimer, Corsair, etc. are not. They haven't decided yet whether the Polaris will be categorized as such. Cheers mate 😊

CIG classifies the Hammerhead and Perseus as corvettes, the Idris as a frigate, and the Javilin as a destroyer. (the bengal is probably a cruiser-equivilant, and the Kingship is a battleship) They are ALL capital ships. Civilian ships with capital grade components like the 890 and reclaimer get groups with them for convenience.

If speed is something you are trying to improve on, the Herald wasn't a bad choice but you might want to revisit some of the other ships. Ships like the Cutlass series can be equipped with an XL-1 quantum drive which can get you from Crusader to Microtech in about 4.5 minutes. Which is a little more than two minutes faster than the fastest quantum drive you can fit in the Herald.

Drake ships are made for boarding action(since they are pirate/bounty hunter orientated) so tight narrow corridors are better since it makes it easier to shoot targets as they come.

Drake ships are meant to feel claustrophobic. Also, that column in the Corsair is necessary because otherwise there wouldn't be any space to put those components and the engineering console. And if you remove the column you just end up with a mostly empty room that wastes a lot of highly valuable floor space, which would be horrible. Finally I just think it looks cool to have this circular room with a central column that has all these cable bundles running to it. Really gives off a cool vibe.

The full-sized and colored Kraken was on display outside on a landing pad at the old Lorville for Citizencon 2948. I think It was visible outside the ASOP panels at the space station. Also I think there is a full colored scale Kraken on display at cousin crows on the regular no? Pretty sure I've seen one somewhere in the 'verse.

Regarding Data Running, they could make the data include a virus that slowely tries to infect the data and currupt it. It's less about the players danger and more about them saving the data and preventing the ship from being hacked. Though they could still make stealing data from outlaws have a chance of starting self destruct, but stealing from UEE wouldn't. They would just give your ship a beacon for a bounty hunter to track you down and arrest you.

Wdym the herald gets you to mt faster? I mean it's pretty quick on regular flight, but the only thing that determines qt travel speed is the quantum drive which can be swapped out. And the qt drive of the herald is actually not that fast. The atlas is faster and has more range than the standard qt drive of the herald and both of those are far from the fastest qt drives. A cutter with a vk00 is stupid fast and thanks to its massive qt fuel tank it can zip around the system multiple times before refueling is necessary. If you wanna save time use that or a ship with an xl1 size 2 qt drive.

@ just before 11:00 Opinions like this are why I feel this community is masochistic...and why I don't play mostly, but you do you. Timed on some is nice, but not all missions in an irl scenario would be that urgent. Sometimes people slip up, and missions with longer times to complete could be possibly harder with more tanky broken down ships waiting for reinforcements or something. But when it comes to missions in games, I'm more into varied scenarios within missions that could force you to adapt as you go through it, rather than force you to speed run everything as fast as possible without any nuances beyond some enemies to get stuff from, or defeat with doing it. It would be nice if you could get stealth ships that could hide in asteroid fields, or in plane sight so long as they're not moving much, like active camouflage to sneak past patrols, steal intel, and sneak out/blast out. Just something more than screw you. You have the wrong ship. It should still be intense, with some being that way, but give the different levels of players options is what I say. Still love the vids, and the kraken looks amazing! You'll probably get it at some point in the future! Looking forward to seeing it if they release it!

God no. No 'fast or you explode' gameplay. Herald has hacking equipment to ... acquire data that might otherwise be unavailable. It's epic fast to gtfo after some questionable acquisition. Sorta fast or you get caught gameplay. Am looking forward to data gameplay though. Should be fun stuff.

I slapped Grade A Military XL-1 into my new Cutlass Red and I can "wee-woo wee-woo" from one side of the system to the other in just about 5 minutes. It's quite something. edit: Oh right and yes, while the tier 3 med beds (or any med bed for that matter) "replenish" your thirst, they do not actually hydrate you. You still need to drink water every so often, or else your thirst will just dwindle faster, leaving you wondering why. Same goes for food.

For the drake herald I think the second seat should be for a "data technician" who would have to play a minigame in order to give the pilot by keeping the data more stable and prevent its breakdown or possibly being tracked by pirates on higher threat missions. This would encourage more multi-crew gameplay and maybe even all ships with multiple data techitians for possible inter sytem runs.

All ASOP terminals in Area 18 were bricked in my shard last night. Rented a Cutty Steel from the Con to taxi people back and forth from A18 to Bajini, but nobody could get the seats in back to work. Maybe there's a control or switch or hotkey I couldn't find? Not sure, but it was pretty disappointing not being able to use it for its intended purpose.

You have to remember that the Herald is not the only data-running ship. You have the MSR and the Terrapin. Also, that pillar that you hate in the back of the Corsair was slated for data-running servers (like the MSR), and if you really what to go with the ultimate data ship, you have the Endeavor. Oh, and the Dragonfly is more of a snub-fighter than a hoverbike.

big Ground combat is a thing in in SC Org wars made game types. BUT even then , no one uses the steel. Just look at its stats and you known why it obviously cant be used as a trop carry ship in a hot zone. Olli43 if you have not already seen Skunk Works many big Ground combat ops. check them out and you will see what works and what dont. they very well done. look up Skunkopoly Round 4 - Alpha vs Bravo/Charlie Citizen Kate POV. u CAN put a STV in it but the cutlass Steel would never make it to the drop site at those ops. even just 2 guys whit rail guns below is bad news for a steel. far less the 20 to 50 man air cover and ballista it would not even see on radar at thos ops.

Got yourself a Herald? Don't you mean a "thruster with a seat". Also, data running with it being timed, should be a reducing pay out (fast: full pay, slow: much lower pay). However, if the timer runs out you should get a crim stat, as it would be seen as stolen.

I know this video is a bit old, but the herald is not the best for getting across the verse as it stands as of 3.19.1. The vast majority of your time is sunk in quantum travel. The Herald does not have the fuel stores to use the fastest QD available for it's size. The cutter does, but still is not the fastest across the flyable ships. Example, the Herald cannot make it across the verse with the fastest QD for its size, but the cutter will take 6 minutes from MT to ARC. However, the Connie or Corsair can bring that doewn to 4:29 for that same trip. Corsair has a larger QD tank than Connies currently, so you could do the MT to Arc trip 4.5 times before needing to refuel.

I don't think that the data running needs a blow up option. However, I have another idea. Data value is 100% and reduces to -20% the longer you take to complete the mission. The faster you do the mission the more you get paid. If you are to slow you are penalized by having to pay for the old data. To prevent people from abandoning the mission to avoid the fee, make a late delivery still give positive rep.

The Steel is hated so much because it is comparatively useless yet waaaaaaaaaaay more expensive than any other ship in the series. It wasn't put in the game for anyone, it was put in the game to trick people into thinking it would be cool, it was strictly a cash grab. I think the Cat's tractor beam will be part of the right-wing. I never played with it much, but I'm fairly sure there is a support station on that side of the ship all ready for it. I don't think the Corsair is a capital ship. It's basically Drake's answer to the Connie's. Ships like the Corsair and the Connie (which is bigger) are "Large" spacecraft, not capital ships. I don't even think that the Carrack is a capital ship. The only currently flyable capital ship is the 890 Jump. What was the Kraken's "hidden secret" tho? You can't have meant the holoview being "full size" because that was nowhere near the full size of the Kraken. Like nearly all holo-models, it was a scale model.

2:45 the main reason people hate on it is because it's waaay over priced in the pledge store and not very practical.. There is very little use for it currently and it's drake...so weaker armor. Cat has two tractors, one on each side. The one you showed on the ships left side, and one in the command cab's nose, bottom level beneath the pilot. No one likes the steel because of the price tag in such an otherwise vulnerable ship. Felt like a cash grab, even by CIG standards
