for anyone wondering: the background of this mv is like a toxic relationship that she’s stuck in. also to explain the scratches on the boys face, it is like a butterfly effect. every time hwasa adds makeup to her face a new cut appears on the boys where she puts the makeup. this eventuates the toxicity of the “relationship”. it’s very powerful.

When PD spoke about how much it costs to hold up a band like this I thought about something one of the directors (or the CEO?) told ONEWE, I think during their reality show. ONEWE was really worried and scared that they weren't going to do well and that they would disgrace RBW, mostly because they had debuted before (under the name MAS 0094) and they didn't have much popularity. The director (or the CEO) told them that RBW makes money to put out the music that they like and that they enjoy. He said that at a certain degree, it doesn't matter how well the public receives their music, because it's their job to release music that they love, and that's what they're going to do. RBW is really a great label, and I'm glad they discovered the gem that is ONEWE

Thanks for saying this. A lot of people talk sh*t about RBW because they don't promote them well but I think they just want to do the things at a right time. They give them freedom to do their own music, they always do mini concerts before their cbs and enjoy it and show lot of interesting music and covers. They're giving them more opportunities each time. And this time it could be just a marketing strategy but they're grateful about this collab, the song is an old song by CyA but it still good, i love the result. I'm grateful RBW gave them the opportunity they couldn't have for a long time since they made the band

@@TaniaCastilloDWYW No problem. RBW is one of my top 3 favorite companies and I think that there's something really genuine in the way they do music. I mean, just the fact that they redebuted Onewe makes me really happy, since personally, I was a fan back when they were MAS. And I think it's really cool how the song was originally on Cya's Souncloud. That fact low-key makes me hope for a Onewe version of 날개없는 천사 (an angel without wings). It's my personal favorite song on Cya's Sound cloud. You should check it out if you haven't!

Actually rbw and onewe decided that they would release music as an underground group and not promote on music shows (although they do sometimes), so that they can make the music they want. Also, The song was written by CyA (blue hair) and his friend and it was posted on Soundcloud. Both songs are similar but the vibe (imo) is completely different, more playful in the original. The ceo of rbw heard it on Soundcloud and suggested to CyA to make a band version with Hwasa. The song and an instrumental version were released under the title of "3/4" but they're rumoured to have a comeback in May and this is just a little bonus and way to anticipate their album.

FYI: Rainbow Bridge's chief producer actually mentioned in an interview before Onewe debuted that unlike their idol group brother, the band would start their activity underground because from what they observed, most k-bands that debuted mainstream are often previewed as "idol bands" or lack of talent by the general public. And Onewe did focuses on live concerts during when they first debuted. According to k-pop music shows, Regulus from their 2nd single is considered as their debut stage on music shows.

@@formoftherapy To quote an interview with RBW's CEO from last year: ' “ONEWE will promote in a different way than ONEUS,” continued Kim Do Hoon. “We’re trying to start underground. When a male idol band debuts on TV and begins promotions, the public has biased views. Even if they’re talented, they’re viewed as an untalented group. So we are going to start from underground and succeed with just music. In that sense, I think that ONEWE is more similar to MAMAMOO than ONEUS. Unique plans will go into effect.” ' However, they do seem to be cautious about it, considering how they do sometimes promote on "idol" shows. Although it's true that for several of their stages they were invited as special stages (like for their Latata or Hip covers, or their recent Q stage on Mcountdown) rather than RBW having them promote there!
@little_ms_anne10214 жыл бұрын
Ollie i think this is just a way to kick start Onewe's plans of doing good underground, they are trying to catch peoples attention to this band no matter how small that population is to add to the people who already know them underground. Even if they want to succeed in a different field before going to another (kpop scene) there is nothing wrong with putting ground work early on, if anything this is an indication that RBW has goals for them (long term) and has bigger plans in the works which for an artist is a positive sign of longevity in their career.

Another thing about Onewe that I noticed is that sometimes they would mention in passing that they are recording instruments and writing songs for other groups in the company, which can mean they do a lot of the work behind the scene that we don’t often see. That’s why I worry less about their stance in the company. The only thing I really hope for the band right now is that they can earn the recognition they deserve from the public.

Oh it's really a single. The album name is "3/4", and Q is the only track in this album. But Onewe IS releasing their first studio album "ONE" next month! They didn't really promote this on music shows, the only live stage of Q is their Special Stage on M Countdown on Apr 9, which Onewe performed the song by themselves. And the live clips (Acoustic ver. & Band Live ver.) they put on YT. My theory is that this song is sort of a pre-release single, hoping to get them some public recognition with Hwasa's featuring ,before their album releases.

I know your speciality is video producing and so usually you focus on the visual aspect of the MVs more and while I enjoy that as well, it was also really interesting to hear your thoughts and explanations about music industry in Korea in general, how bands are perceived, how title tracks and features work etc. I hope you can include more of such interesting facts in your videos in the future too. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it a lot!

This song (and pretty much all their songs tbh) are not what I would usually find myself enjoying but for whatever reason, I absolutely love it! I had even heard and liked the original version of this song on CyA's SoundCloud before this version was announced and that version was even further from what I typically enjoy (again, along with most of his other SoundCloud songs)

This is exactly why I love ONEWE and how RBW are handling them. ONEWE is staying true to themselves and their roots, and RBW is giving them the freedom to write and perform the music that is genuinely "ONEWE". It may not necessarily be a strategy conducive to commercial success, but I personally have always valued truth and honesty in music over what is deemed to be "popular".

Glad you liked it, it was originally a song from the maknae Cya's soundcloud that they adapted for the band ^^ If you'd like to learn more about them, I'm always happy to help! Stay well ^^

hi pd! since we are on the topic of kbands, there's a new band called Bandage that just debuted under PlayM. their debut song is called 유령. the members were all contestants of JTBC's Superband, a survival show to form a band and one of the members, Lim Hyeongbin was originally a PlayM trainee and went on the show. it would be cool to see if you check them out! they are unlike any other kbands that the international fans are familiar of. And judging how PlayM is handling them, definitely the indie route too as well.

I find this to be a real R&B, jazzy tune. and I love it. Maybe even a little Spanish sounding. It's true that there are very few kpop bands, as opposed to a performance/boy band, but they're one of my two favorites (the other being The Rose). Because I'm from the West, maybe I just like bands. Hwasa is awesome, as usual. It doesn't sound like a b side to me but I do like R&B in general.

They are promoting the song without any "special guest" presence. Their own members are replacing Hwasa's lines and they also got some adlibs that take the song to higher places (note wise) than the MV.
