Soobin, HueningKai and Taehyun just tagged along but eventually, Taehyun, being the brain of the team, learns Yeonjun's mistakes. Don't worry, PD. I saw that comment you made about the rookie awards too and I also see why some people felt offended, but at the same time, people DO take stuff a lot more serious on twitter. You can't say stuff like "oh, TXT are the best rookies/the best group" without having somebody say "ok but -this group- outsold them" or "no, because they just ride on privilege". I am a moa and many Ateez fans and other fandom keep saying that they didn't deserve the award and I didn't like that. TXT is a hard working group and was definitely one the best debut last year. who should win award is subjective and about taste. Yes, saying you like or love a specific group should not be taken so seriously. I think any group who wins an award deserves it. I do not understand why fans of other groups who do not win feel like they need to tear down the groups who do win. Put yourself in the other groups shoes and see how you would feel if people said you didn't deserve something you worked incredibly hard for. Honestly when award season came I wanted nothing more then for there to be 2 winners of Rookie of the Year :/ TXT and ATEEZ BOTH deserved it so much, and ppl shouldn’t compare them bc they have very different styles. I feel like non-MOAs often forget that TXTs privilege, also comes with a mountain of struggle and hate. To me this mountain is also much taller than Big 3 rookies face because of how MASSIVE BTS became and still is AND because TXT is only the second group to come out of Bighit. So don’t forget while you’re saying things are being handed to them that they don’t deserve, that things they do deserve are also being taken away from them.

I remember Soobin mentioned in one of their comeback interviews during TDC:Magic if i'm not mistaken, that they are grateful that Big Hit and BTS have given them "big and Strong wings", but still they need to have a "strong body" to sustain it (NV). I feel that this story is about dealing with mental illness in a group of friends who end up hurting each other because they force themselves to "act normal". Playing with strawberries and tomatoes seems innocent till it eerily starts resembling blood. They suppress their struggles to the point that them playing around turns into them hurting each other. Yeonjun even realizes this at one point where he is about to throw a tomato at his friends but realizes that it looks like blood. If you notice, each member has a different behaviorism that ends up isolating them from their friend's group. Soobin displays anger when he can't take it anymore and goes from smiling to screaming. Taehyun always seems irritable, even when they're playing. Beomgyu turns violent and almost suffocates his friend with a blanket. Yeonjun just puts on a mask and Kai is almost always alone even when they are together. In the end, the act of "being okay" destroys their friendship and they end up isolating themselves from each other. They are all friends, they are all struggling but they don't understand each other.

Well first I had no idea there was some drama on stan twitter because of them vs. ateez but please don't be discouraged! People claim things are rigged as a joke often and it's not meant to be disparaging. I think perhaps younger fans sometimes are so intense with their fandoms that they take it perhaps too seriously. Only one group can win awards and while they are nice to have that doesn't mean the groups who lose are any less deserving or talented. THAT SAID, this is such an interesting turn for the narrative and I'm super curious if there are more videos planned for this era. Maze in the Mirror was written by all the boys and produced by Beomgyu and I think would fit nicely into this storyline. I'm just glad they're charting well and can't wait for more!

I've been a MOA since pre-debut but I'm not too invested into TXT, but my God, this comeback is amazing. This is my favorite TXT title track, heck it's my favorite track overall. Run Away has been my go-to TXT song since it came out, and while I did liked this song, I still liked Run Away more. Then I started listening to it more, and by the 4th or 5th listen, Can't You See Me just... I dunno, hit me hard? Probably because I actually turned on the captions to see the translation (I always turn them off for the first listen/viewing). (It was AWKWARD saying how much I related to the song to my friends, because what does that imply about them?) I think the earworm of this song is the whistle part, because it just stands out so much, as well as the English parts. It's become my favorite song by the boys at this point. I think I've watched every single music show performance, member cams included (I may be slightly obsessed at this point, whoops). The rest of the album is also great, I highly suggest a few listens (as it took me) to really absorb it all.

Ateez deserved a ROTY award but it does not mean that TXT or whoever might have won those awards do not deserve them. Your comment that if Ateez dont win means the shows are rigged is really unbecoming and biased but I'm glad that you addressed it and owned up to what you did. Ateez and TXT are great artists with different concepts and sounds that attract different fans and we should all support them without hating or discrediting the efforts of the other. Vida Barros I get your whole point and your general message that every group technically deserves it, but it would be biased itself to claim that award shows aren’t rigged in any way. Because they are. They cater and give awards to bigger established groups/companies who attend the award shows. That’s just the way of things and so I don’t think PD acknowledging the backhanded processes is a form of bias towards one group, and ppl who claimed he was - was being overly sensitive from the fandom’s rising tension. He wasn’t discrediting TXT but more of the awards shows themselves but this is kpop Twitter we’re talking abt, so I’m not surprised he was bombarded with hate.

If one does research on song/album sales and streaming in various platforms both in intl and korea, as well as brand ranking and popularity, they will see that in 2019 Txt and Itzy had higher numbers. Thus they were given those awards. Ateez are more popular in the west because they feel like a more seasoned 3rd gen group but they are actually not popular in korea if you look into it. And if all these awards shows are rigged and cannot be trusted anymore, then no group or fandom should be affected or hurt by the results because they always scream "rigged."

Vida Barros I actually agree with what you said on a general basis. My take of your original comment was more towards the fact that claiming award shows aren’t rigged in *any* way (like some interpret) is untrue. I personally think it’s kind of a balance between a groups feats/stats and rigging when handling awards except there’s some exceptions to specific groups. Yes-groups who don’t attend the shows will most likely lose awards just in the basis that they didn’t attend, yes- some more popular songs to the general public will lose just cause clashing with a bigger fan base, and yes- groups with bigger accomplishing feats that year should theoretically win the award accompanying those accomplishments. There’s so many factors when acclaiming an award so to say there’s no rigging involved in awards shows is blissfully ignorant in today’s day and age. Btw my comment isn’t directing any slander to groups who may have won through rigging but more towards the system that’s controlling the industry. Every industry, company, rules etc is always going unfair and fair in some way and we just got to learn how to deal with it.

Honestly, I thought this song was a lot catchier on first listen than Run Away-the line “can’t you see me” was stuck in my head from the start-but it’s no competition for me. Thank you for your comment/reaction from your professional point of view. This MV surprised me too. I admit I haven't seen the previous MV's (still a bit of a rookie, sorry). When I heard this song the first time it sounded to me like just another light and banal k-pop song. I liked the visuals and music though, and the boys are so handsome and sexy!... Then I forgot about it, and later I heard it again and actually looked with more attention, and started to notice those details and the dark side... The more I watched it the more it grew on me. Then I checked the lyrics properly, (I mean the translation, although I can read Korean, I don't understand it), and I got completely hooked on it! What they sing is so true, we all sooner or later have sour moments with our friends... We're happy, thinking "together forever" etc., but things happen and they betray us, fail us and the spell is broken and the happy relationships ruined... And those feelings of bitterness, loneliness, sadness... I think it's a very good video, so expressive, esthetic and the choreo - so cool! I love the whole thing.

I remember the tweet you are talking about. I remember being a little disappointed and sad, mostly because I remember so many people hating on TXT for literally doing nothing, and it felt like my favorite Kpop KZbinr agreed. Like I respect people favorite some groups over others and we aren't going to agree on the same things, but talking shit about a group in order to hype up another is not something I find acceptable. So it did disappoint me, because with the timing and all it did feel like you said TXT didn't deserve the award. I think, I wrote, that TXT deserved it as well, can't really remember, but I kind of just ignored it back then, because I was so tired of dealing with people sitting on TXT, and you didn't actually mention them or say something shitty about them, so I was able to ignore it. Also you don't feel biased when you watch them, and give great compliments and critic fairly to all the artists. So I eventually didn't feel like you had a problem with TXT, so I just accepted that we were to disagree about who we wanted to win the award, and that is alright. Now with that out of the way, I really hope you will do a listening party of the album. The album is very experimental and I would love to hear your thoughts. I accidentally listened to it backwards, which I can't recommend because I couldn't remember any other songs since I had a hard time digesting Eternally, and I actually thought I didn't really like the album. But after a couple of hours, I listened to the other songs again and I realized I actually did like the songs after all. I just wasn't listening properly as I couldn't even remember how they sound like 😂
