@kitanaedenian25757 жыл бұрын
OMNISLASHER1000 it's kitana not Katana, she trained with her fans because it's the weapon that she loves, she is a ninja and an assassin. the only motive that liu kang and Jack are stronger than her it's because of machism. the same motive that makes her dress herself like that

i'd like to say that fans are used in Kung Fu not as an attacking tool but a distracting one, opening and closing it takes too much attention. It can also be used to disarm an opponent's bladed weapon, kind of what Mulan did with the bad guu I forgot the name. Then again, I remember I don't know anything abt Kung Fu.
@mrspeigle110 ай бұрын
If you've ever held one you can feel the weapon potential in them. Easily capable of stopping a blade slash or striking with enough force to break bone. Pretty handy if you were in a place that dosent allow weapons and a fan is appropriate to carry.

@nian1117 жыл бұрын
Real war fans are generally made from steel, and with enough practice, it can be used to stun and even cut flesh. It's a very versatile weapon, and great for disguise.
@Aug-Ustinus7 жыл бұрын
to hide a weapon in your other hand or the fan has sharp edges itself.
@iamjuice4205 жыл бұрын
Could easily be used in pressing/pressure point manipulation when coupled with chin na (joint locks), thrusting applications (bladed ends), slashing, smacking(when compact, creates a respectable amount of impact) or like a pommel strike (akin to sword butt). Also can be used to hide an empty hand attack or used as a distraction from another attack. As with any weapon, its merely an extension of the body or an augmentation, but there are plenty of martial capabilities in it.
@seanharrison50455 жыл бұрын
It's practicality is that it looks like a fan and not a weapon.

Basically the equivalent of Japan's "Tessenjutsu", a mythological concept art. Aikido and Tai Chi Chuan are also concept arts. That's not to say that they're bad, but it might take a special individual to make it all work. One who not only believes, but also doesn't mind the extra risk.

@nian1117 жыл бұрын
I see another uneducated person here... This martial art method is called "Tessenjutsu", and is really effective once you master it. Real war fans (to name a few, tessen, gunbai and gunsen) are usually made from steel/have steel parts, and with enough practice, it can be used to stun and even cut flesh. It's a very versatile weapon, and great for disguise.
@mariusbaltazarrozenberg-ho93677 жыл бұрын
+Senpai Many Thanks for your prompt response. I was only talking about this one man's demonstration, not about the whole discipline of Tessunjutsu at all - if you can show me videos how Tessunjutsu being used effectively in combat I'd really appreciate it - Many Thanks. You must admit that sometimes Martial Arts displays are done more for theatrical entertainment rather than demonstrating effectiveness in combat.
@nian1117 жыл бұрын
Marek Cieslik oh, right. Sorry about that. Yes, I do agree the demonstration is quite..off. But it's still better than most (that I've seen on youtube, that is)
@mariusbaltazarrozenberg-ho93677 жыл бұрын
+Senpai Thanks. I think 1 of the most effective martial arts is Muay Thai - it is LETHAL, as is Kalarippayattu - particularly the Urumi - whip sword & chakram - steel circle or "halo" as used by Nihang Sikhs. Aikido is only really effective when someone is attacked head on.
@nian1117 жыл бұрын
Marek Cieslik ahh, I've only studied a few, and one of them that I'm currently learning is Tessenjutsu. But I'd love to try Muay Thai!

Fans weren't seen as threats making them a good weapon to use. Especially for spies. Plus it's a distraction for opponents and the ribs of the fan can have blades that will cut the persons throat or something like that.
@Tmathh8 жыл бұрын
ah so for ninjas. makes sense. i would never think a fan deadly
@tormentorchick17558 жыл бұрын
Tmathh Yeah. I think women used them too because like fans, they weren't seen as dangerous and so they were probably used as self defense as well as spying. They are my favorite weapon.

@@tormentorchick1755 Were they that stupid back those days? If you are stabbed by a screwdriver and survive, would you not take a careful watch for screwdrivers and spread the word that screwdrivers can be used as a weapon? If you are not stupid, you would. So the fan-trick only work one time. Back those days most people were not stupid. Have that said, all this "weapons" are not real "ancient" and far most are post ww-2. Ideas of this kind of "weapons" often originate from movies and cartoons. What they found on ancient battlefields is what we always expected: swords, archery, shields, spears, war axes and war hammers and never things like this. Again, they were not stupid those old days, modern mankind is mush more stupid as we were those days.
