A few days ago Simon attempted a puzzle called Michael Palin by starwarigami and was so impressed he asked for another one! And here we have Kylo Ren by the same author and it's just as interesting! You can try it at the link below:

Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits cannot repreat within a cage. The sum of the digits in a cage is its cage total. Along each purple line the cage totals form a set of consecutive numbers in any order.

​@@chitraagarwal8259 I had an idea that used German Whispers and Renban lines, to make a frog-like shape in the grid. Maybe some thermos or arrows for "eyes". Modifying that into a Grogu or Yoda shape would probably be fun.

Or at 33:30, when Simon looks at the 789 pair in r3c12 and instantly recognizes it's actually a 79 pair (r3c6 "is not a 7 or a 9") and then about a minute later is startled to discover it is a 79 pair.

I read Simon left a job in investment banking to start this adventure alongside Mark, and I'm so glad they were successful (possibly after uncertain first steps) and now can feel more fulfilled doing something that motivates them

This is one of those surreal puzzles where I kept getting completely stuck, to the point of giving up and going back to the video and pressing play, but then changing my mind thinking "no I can do this" and going back to the puzzle... so at the end I complete it and I feel like I cheated by watching the video but when I get back and actually watch the video, I realize I had only watched the first 30 seconds of the solve. I'm not even sure how this works, I guess my brain is just weird.

Thought I am not a sophisticated solver at all, thanks to this channel, I have learned to recognize great puzzles, and this seems to be one of those. That is, if Simon's delight and focus are any indication, this is a good one. Thanks so much, Simon, for this video. I'm glad you got it in under your outer limit of time (well, I hope you did); when there were just about 4 minutes left in the video and you appeared to have at least 25% of the grid not complete, I wondered just how this would end. Of course you managed it!

15:15 The cage going through the middle of block 5 needs a high number (789). The only place it can go is R3C5. Then check out the cage in block 4 C1. It must be 18-20. That forces the cage just above to be 17 or 18 -- 79 or 89. That gives a 789 triple in R3. 25:10 It's impossible to put an 11 in the center of a cell anyways. The 2nd salvo, after the bottom row: the minimum becomes the maximum and the maximum becomes the minimum. 49:00 Fixing the 71 domino and putting the 1 in the 18 cage will do quite a bit. 57:10 Simon counts: "Two, three, bobbins."

50:56 finish. I was struggling in box 3 for a while, first thinking that it could be a 2-9 in row 2, and a 14 cage up top, but I completely missed that 6 would have to go in r2c7. Then I mismarked the 2-cell cage and continued on my merry way until it broke again the next minute. The rest of the puzzle was great! I actually focused on the left hand side before the right, which eventually made box 9 easier to do. And in the middle, I looked at the 3-cell cage in the middle of column 5 and asked where the pieces had to go in the 7-cell cage. This placed the 7 in r7c5 a lot earlier.

I know I'm late getting to this, but Gordon Bennett, what were you playing at? Early on, you placed the 8 in R3, yet didn't resolve the 789s in box 1, which would have told you that the cages were 16, 17, and 18 in box 4, giving you the total of the other cage in box 4, removing the ambiguity on the cage in box 2. Later, you placed a 1 in R3C3 looking down at a 17 pair and didn't even look. It was waiting there for absolutely ages, resolving the pair would have put a 1 in the 3-cell 18 cage forcing the other cells to be 89, which in turn would have given you R8C1=3, R8C7=9, R8C8/9 is a 48 pair, R7C7=3. You also put a 56 pair in box 9 when there was a 6 above it. Resolving that would have given you the 5 in box 3. That fixed all the cages on the line in boxes 6 & 9, and pretty much completed the puzzle. All that floundering around was because you just didn't bother looking what effect placing the 1 in box 1 had.

hey. love thee channel. small observation... the white backgrounds of the puzzles cause me to see a halo of stars around my vision after a short while accompanied by a devilish headache. i watch youtube on my TV... and the white is very bright. I manage by making the video as small as possible - but something you may want to consider for accessibility is to either put a mid-light grey in the background... or indeed to inverse the colour and have a dark mode... which is far less assaulting on the eyeballs. thanks for reading. keep cracking the cryptics.
