Just watched this for the first time a few minutes ago (well I thought I did) Looks like I commented on it 14 years ago, amazing what being clean for nearly three years does to you.

Holy shit! Just stumbled across this, what a way to start a Wednesday. Easily the best version live or otherwise I’ve ever heard outside The Who. You must nail the bass solo and John does effortlessly. The shit.
@kevinhanson47034 жыл бұрын
An acoustic and still sounds amazing. I felt the energy on my phone can't imagine what it was like being there. All the oasis comments I'm kind of glad in a way the la's never made it MEGA in terms of commercial status because it was about songs and real passion and not behaving like pop stars. Oasis had songs then let them go for pop stardom same with the roses or more laziness with them. THE LA'S WERE THE REAL DEAL GROUND IN GRIT. DOESN'T MATTER ABOUT DOING ONE ALBUM PERFORMANCES LIKE THAT WILL HAVE PEOPLE COMING BACK FOR MORE.

I wish they had come to the U.S. on this world tour. I'd give anything to hear Lee Mavers or the La's play. That just knocks me out and I'm not even much of a Who fan. What an incredible talent. I know some American travelled to the UK in 2005 and again in 2011 to see them. In 2011 everything was sold out before I even heard about their gigs.
@Johnconno7 жыл бұрын
Lee hated America, he hated everywhere. Except for Huyton.
@susantodd32336 жыл бұрын
Yeah, read all his interviews. They booked him at some decent venues but also some real dumps in ugly locations with few people. There's good people/culture here & plastic, just like everywhere else. Not enough records sold here either. He was in a foul mood a lot by then, still managed to have some fun. He has good taste liking Canada, "a good outlook on life."

Smash your guitar, Lee, smash your guitar! Actually, perhaps the best cover I have heard of this. The Who performing My Generation at Monterrey Pop in 1967 is still the Gold Standard performance, but this is very good.

....damn...that’s John Lennon’s rasp and the raw energy and attitude is early Beatles ....playing the Who!!!! The irony here is the Las strongly didn’t like being compared to the Beatles and Oasis wanted to be the Beatles....sorry Noel and co....this is how you do it....and as a Who fan I admit this blows away the Who live version!!!!!! And Jasper hits the skills and attitude of the Greatest Moon...

Wow, you mean you can do this without protools, click tracks, and auto tune? It’s called heart, it’s called bollocks, it’s called 10,000 hours of learning your craft. Like I always tell the youngsters, you gotta write “Fun Fun Fun” before you write “God Only Knows”. You can take that to the bank holiday.
