It really saddens me to see people disrespect this timeless band giving a great performance. They aren't a festival or arena kind of band in my opinion but neither were bands like the beatles or the kinks. Lee doesn't give a fuck about looking pretty for the cameras and he never did, which is one of the many reasons their music rings so true. They're about the music not about trying to look good. One of the greatest songwriters of all time. He didn't get on with the music industry and for some (non-thinking) people that means that he didn't "fulfill his potential" - as if an artist's worth is measured in their willingness to play the game. Lee has achieved his creative potential. I hope to meet him one day!

It's a really interesting point. So few get anywhere near perfection, so they keep trying and they keep boring us to death. Pop music's a pretty limited form though and there really is a limit to genius within it. The Beatles had 8 years. After they split, there were a few brilliant solo moments but nothing anywhere near their collective form. I think Bowie had 13 years (1967-80). After that, the same scenario, a few gems here and there but most of it far from his peak. Nick Drake's interesting: 3 albums, all pretty much flawless but where could he have gone after that? I think he reached his (artistic) goal. Likewise the Las. Though I'd still love to hear more from them, even if it was subpar!
