I got into them around 2010, so I am a senior Blackjack and I can tell you, if you feel their power and energy now, after all these years, imagine being there watching their mvs as they released them. That's why I am so thankful you decided to do a deep dive into the group and get to know them a bit because even now after their disbandment, they deserve the attention, praise, and love because they are still one of the OGs in the kpop game. They still inspire the younger generation and to me, that says something!

I second this! I remember being there when YG announced 2NE1s debut date and was just a teen excited for new music. The eneeeeerrgy, charisma and colourful confidence gave me such a high lol but also helped me so much in building my self esteem. I cry at how happy my teen years were because of them along side other 2nd gen groups. I just remember the rage I felt when YG unexpectedly announced their disbandment. Had to take a long ass walk 😂

Their whole identity is girl crush and definitely did it best but the way their music continually evolved and they released title tracks that were different genres and ahead of its time. Their music videos, fashion and overall look being so upfront and peculiar too. Even after they disbanded I still listen to their songs and I still believe no one touches them and their impact. I hope you end up reacting to more of them coz people need to hear them, see them, WATCH THEM.

2NE1 changed kpop permanently. You had to be there to fully understand, but there had never been anything like them before and shortly after they debuted, you started to see other girl groups change. Not copying exactly, but the influence was undeniable. What YG did to them is unforgivable. Lots of agency botch their management, but what happened to 2NE1 was obvously deliberate. He actively killed them. Lied to CL about what was going to happen, locked her into another contract then killed the group and basically hid her in a basement unable to release music for years!

@@razelimari Teddy Park was essentially the 5th member of 2NE1 behind the scenes. I'm convinced YG saw the Bom scandal as a way to free up Teddy and reassign him to the new girl group that YG openly referred to as 2NE1 but prettier. I don't blame anyone but YG for what happened. And I hope someday we'll get an explanation on why he put CL on ice for 5 years. There is a whole album and at least one music video that was completed but never released. It makes no sense.

I can’t forget that one ep on 2ne1 tv how he just nonchalantly said during their rehearsal that they looked ugly and should wear make up ( like wth l idc if it’s a joke for him) I can’t blame minzy for leaving 2ne1 since she had no any solo activities even when the group was on hiatus. Personally, I really think it was yg who pushed her to leave so he can find a reason for their disbandment. He didn’t even consult the members and i can remember how the girls esp dara just felt clueless from all the things that was happening. And yes, there was even no proper explanation for cl! She even posted some parts of unreleased mv on her instagram even if she might get in trouble (i really think she didn’t care at that point already) I can’t really blame other blackjacks who feel salty for the new gg since we didn’t have any proper closure and was just left dumbfounded like the girls! It’s a pity because i was really anticipating for their interactions as senior-junior. Anyway, im just so glad that they did coachella last year and they’re not in yg anymore. Rather as a comeback, I believe that their coachella performance was their closure gift to the fans 🥲❤️

Not to mention they put all the blame on Park Bom's mental health and Minji leaving as the reason they disbanded them and people actually believed that and harrassed our girls over it. But the truth did eventually come out after contracts ended and people could speak freely. YG did 2NE1 wrong but I also can't find it easy to forgive the fans who believed him and made it harder for all of them, even making CL feel bad for pursuing her solo career saying she didn't care about the group but what else should she have done? YG had already decided not to invest any more into them and Minji knew this which is why she got out early. It just gets me mad but I'm cool. We here to listen to music.

The acoustic guitar is part of the Come back Home Unplugged Version. It's basically an acoustic version of Come back home. Fun Fact there should be an MV for the Unplugged Version too but YG decided to combine both MVs into one, thus the Iconic MV with multiple genres is born. :D As a blackjack, I am happy with the choices for this video because it shows 2ne1's versatility with every song. They tend to have different concepts and style every comeback that's why the general public is excited about 2ne1's return. Also, 2ne1 is one of the few groups who performs LIVE dance practices during the days. 2ne1 has a lot of other emotional songs like Lonely, Ugly and Missing You. I was living in Asia at the time and the way 2NE1 had a chokehold in my part of asia was nuts. First time I heard kpop on local radio. It probably also helped that Sandara was already famous and loved in the Philippines before her debut, so the country as a whole decided to stan 2NE1 in support.

You right Seo Taiji and the Boys is not kpop cuz they were a friends trio that wrote and produced their songs by their own, then they were discovered and signed under a label and debuted right after, zero training from a label, as western musicians do..while kpop idols are trained since they're children, they are taught not only how to sing, dance or rap but also how to answer to journalists question and how to pose...Yeah Kpop started with H.O.T and Sechskies...1TYM wasn't Kpop tho, they were Khiphop scene(YGE was an underground Khiphop Label) that's why YG said BIGBANG is his first Kpop group(Our 2NE1🥰 is YGE first Kpop girl group and YGE second Kpop group after BIGBANG🥰)

About the YG ending: It was actually Big Bang that created that "party-like" ending and it became a thing in some of their songs, as you might know GD produced most of BB discography and a lot of their sound comes from his creation. B.I looked up a lot to GD and his work was heavyly influenced by him and some of that "Big Bang style", so it was iKON who adopted that YG ending, shortly after, Winner did too and that's how it became a YG artist staple. 2NE1 never actually took upon it, some of their songs might have something similar but that YG ending consolidated later when 2NE1 wasnt as active anymore. Thats why they dont have it haha. Sorry for any mistake, i dont speak english well.

I remember resisting watching 2NE1 mvs for years because of the sone vs blackjack drama. Fan wars then were brutal but funny. I loooooove 2ne1 I seriously couldn't love any other girl group the way I love them. Also, if you wanna check out some of their stuff even at your own time and not as a video, I'd recommend dipping your toes on their live performances. Honestly, that's my favorite thing about this group. They commanded the audience like you've never seen. Like even the songs you're unsure of when listening to the studio version, the moment you hear it live that "huh, yeah I get it!" moment comes to you. That was the case for me when it came to I Am The Best and Fire. It's just a shame, I got into kpop right before the hiatus the subsequently ended with their disbandment so I never got the chance to witness it in person. But just the videos...ugh! They're so satisfying. 😭

2NE1, my girls ❤ Honestly, the way they disbanded is still painful. YG stopped giving news about them and fans were just in the dark for so long about what was going on. I dont think anyone has forgotten YG for what they did to 2NE1. When CL performed at Coachella and invited Bom, Minzy and Dara to join her for a surprise 2NE1 reunion, everyone was crying, I swear to god hahaha I think a lot of people, me included, are still hoping they will reunite one day and release something new. It seems like most (if not all) of them are open to the idea? They were like one of my top GG from 2nd gen (along with Sistar, 4minute and Miss A). I was OBSESSED with I Am The Best back around 2012 when I got into kpop first. I never used to pay attention to the artist then, I just made huge playlists of anything I liked, but I remember IATB and Come Back Home were some of my most played songs. Seeing the videos now, the MV wardrobe styling is everything I aspired to, and I'm pretty sure I was dressing exactly like them in the dance practice, maybe swap in a tutu and get a bit more backcombing into the hair and it's me... I'm so glad social media barely existed when I was in college. 😅 Also why only now am I noticing the actor cameos in the MVs, hello to a young Lee Soo-hyuk and Hong Jong-hyun! 😂👏

one of my favorite 2ne1 variety show stories was when CL was talking about how to handle being the group leader while being 7-ish years younger than bom and dara. she would use a creaky old lady voice and say stuff like "unnie, maybe this way is better" and they would answer back in their own creaky old lady voices. especially in that generation of kpop, it took a really creative personality to be leader as one of the younger members and still be respectful. it was really nice having idols who had some of the highest highs in their careers in their 30's as well. justice for bom. if you have time to check out 2ne1's epic mama 2015 performace, it's basically the same thing CL did at coachella. she was booked as a solo artist and brought bom, dara, and minzy as a surprise without the label knowing. and i do recommend checking out their video for 'goodbye' even tho it's sad as hell. minzy had left yg at that point and contractually, the other girls weren't even allowed to tell her the track was happening. apparently, it was written as a love letter to minzy as well as the fans. i am of the opinion that sometimes the big trees in the forest have to fall in order for the saplings to get more light, but it was heartbreaking how 2ne1 was treated. blackjacks are loyal though.

You might have noticed by now, but despite the YG ending being the most talked characteristic of the label, I think what really used to set YG apart from other agencies was that they valued really distinctive and unique voices. That's very prominent in 2ne1, all of them have very recognizable voices ❤

Their earlier songs were more fitted for that second gen era in kpop anyway, (btw their name 'twentyone' for the '21st Century' like hello?!?!) no one will blame you! That being said, when they came out, THEY CAME OUTTT and became every girl's first girl crush 😭Their talents really gave them a lot of versatility and their visual concepts were so different from typical girl groups back then they caught a lot of attention and yes! You know those artists you come across once in a life time and they’re so talented in every aspect you need to stan them?, that’s 2NE1 (at least for me), they’re such a strong, versatile, talented, unique and fun gg, you don’t see that very often, they were never afraid of being imperfect that was their brand, the cool girls that embrace their imperfections, that’s why they are THE og Girl Crush, it wasn’t a concept for them, they were the concept, they birthed it. We all know yg is one of the shittiest companies out there, but putting those four girls together was one the few things they did right, they knew what they were doing (they fumbled the bag terribly later but that’s another sad story) 2NE1 chemistry is one of the reasons the worked so well, they always felt like a family and together the shinned the most, I think they complemented eo so good. Something I gotta say is you NEED to watch their live performances, we all know 2NE1’s music and mvs are amazing but they are at their best in a scenario, their stage presence and charisma is out this world I swear, that’s my favourite thing to watch, ask your girl Rose for recommendations of their best live performances and have a good time, if you vibed in this video with these songs and music videos you’re gonna vibe way more I promise. One thing is for sure, with 2NE1 you’re gonna have a lot of fun and a great time, that’s a guarantee.

My heart! 2NE1 is the once in a blue moon type of group that truly is timeless! These girls got me hooked the moment I listened to them. They were the ones who got me into K-POP. And to me, their live performances are unmatched. To this day, Big Bang and 2NE1 both remain to be icons who are on another level.

2NE1 is indeed iconic and they were the epitome of Girl Crush and they kicked the genre off Their debut Fire stage on Inkigayo is a much watch. YG also always uploaded their music show stages on their channel before it was something the networks did so you can watch them if you want. I would have loved "I Love You" or "Missing You." For Come Back Home they added her verse from the acoustic version into the MV...it was amazing at the time. Come Back Home was originally a Seo Taji and the Boys song...YG was one of the two Boys. Dara's BF was addicted to the Virtual World and 2NE1 blew it up. YG started the fashion connection to music so if you look at their MVs there are a lot of brands...like in I Am The Best Jeremy Scott and Christian Louboutin are featured heavily.
