In 1972 I began a 29 yr. career starting out as a charter coach driver then latter a tour coach driver. In 1975 My company bought me my first new coach. A1975 GMC or “Buffalo”. Thought I had arrived, then came the Prevost. Drove Prevost from 1979 till my 2001.The year I retired. Your first will always be special, but nothing compares to the Prevosts I drove.

I drove two of these commercially on charters and tours from Ontario, one was a '74 with air throttle the other a '75 with mechanical linkage...you had to adjust your shifting when going from one to the other. 4905 models I think...used to be lots of them on the road. In '82 I started driving an MC8 then an MC9 they were heavier and not as lively on the road. Also drove a few Eagles...I think they were my Favorites.

I started a long 34 yr career as a over the road bus driver in 72 and got my first new coach in 75. It was a 40 ft GM coach just like this one. Loved that coach. Drove this till 1980 when. My company put me in my first of many Prevost. That’s when I realized what a real bus was like. Your first new coach will stay with you forever

Yvan found it convent to mix his grey and black water into one tank, my RV was designed with two separate tanks. I dump the black tank, then I flush the fittings and the hose with the contents of the grey tank, giving the hose a nice rinse out. I have $35,500 in my used Newmar and we absolutely love it. Yvan is French Canadian from Quebec(like me), so he knows how to pronounce PREVOST. Nice bus restoration, unique look inside (not for everybody), modern hardware, solar power technology, overall well done and efficient. I use a BERKEY water filtering system, I stopped buying bottle water, my city water is clean and tastes great. Thanks Andrew for sharing. Your channel offers cool & unique content.

its no Liberty or Marathon, but i gotta say, very cool conversion for a bus almost 50 years old. looks like an old "CONTINENTAL TRAILWAYS" (greyhound main competition back then) bus from back on the day. lots of modern/tech upgrades on a cool vintage bus. Yvan sounds like he knows what the heck he is doing. very gracious of him to take the time to share with us. another great vid Andrew, and as always, stay safe and give Sadie some love for me.

As the owner of an early 90’s commercial Prevost conversion (Royale Coach, Monaco), and with friends who have other commercial conversions, including a Liberty, the fact that Yvan and Sylvie’s bus is not a Prevost, and not a Liberty or Marathon conversion, is not necessarily a bad thing. The Prevost bus/shell is a very sophisticated (complex) platform and these luxury conversions tend to have overly complicated systems, all in the name of “luxury.” And they tend to use very heavy materials, again, all in the name of “luxury.” Most DIY conversions tend to be simpler, and built in a way that allows them to be much more easily serviced at lower cost. As a friend of mine says “I built this the way I did because I know the idiot that has to fix it.”

It has a Detroit Diesel 8V71TA engine, 2-stroke cycle, turbo aftercooled, mechanical (no engine computer). Yvan recently completed a rebuild of the engine with the help of DD guru Cliff Allen and Gary Hatt, publisher of Bus Conversion Magazine. Yvan has a whole series of videos on the rebuild. Just search KZbin for “Yvan Lacroix” and you can see a lot of the work. Very well done videos.
