The issue depends on different perspectives, the family culture, initial relationship with family members, attitudes of the wife and the motives for a negative or positive reactions to a woman after the demise of the husband. The issue of law is secondary, even, if the law protects you, how far can you sustain the aftermath? Absolutely! Good relationship while the husband is alive is key to the aftermath of eventual death.
