if my dreams of becoming a director ever happen, i want to play this song at the end of the film when the protagonist decides she wants to escape a cult she's been in but is conflicted because her lover doesn't want to leave the cult.

The lakes is one of best bonus soundtracks from taylor swift. The poetry, meaning, and story telling is magnificent 🎇💫💙

I’ve been going to the Lake District every year with my family since I was born (it’s my happy place) this song just means so much to me “those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry” “ my words worth”- William Wordsworth who was a famous English poet who’s grave is in Grassmere

[lyrics] Is it romantic how all my elegies eulogize me? I'm not cut out for all these cynical clones These hunters with cell phones Take me to the lakes, where all the poets went to die I don't belong and, my beloved, neither do you Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry I'm setting off, but not without my muse What should be over burrowed under my skin In heart-stopping waves of hurt I've come too far to watch some name-dropping sleaze Tell me what are my Wordsworth Take me to the lakes, where all the poets went to die I don't belong and, my beloved, neither do you Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry I'm setting off, but not without my muse I want auroras and sad prose I want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet 'Cause I haven't moved in years And I want you right here A red rose grew up out of ice frozen ground With no one around to tweet it While I bathe in cliff-side pools With my calamitous love and insurmountable grief Take me to the lakes, where all the poets went to die I don't belong and, my beloved, neither do you Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry I'm setting off, but not without my muse No, not without you

This is my favorite line from Taylor ever. I see most of us right now jumping over this "receipt culture", at least that's how I call it. Instead of just enjoying the moment of discovering a rare rose in ice frozen ground, we get worried about not being able to take a picture of it because we want to show it to our friends how lucky we are to have seen it. Yet, there's definitely something lost there. The natural experience of digesting the beauty just for yourself is taken away.
