Well put . Charming detours and ambitious endeavors indeed. This is a band firing on all engines taking them to the threshold as a band .Phil Collins . One of the best to do it. As good as it gets I am very excited about it.

You know I didn't even mention Phil Collins. I should have, but I also have a separate video in the works about his drumming. He gets so unfairly maligned, I think. Then again, he didn't help his own case by going pop.

@feedbackdef but his pop was musical , and easy to identify not to mention iconic tell me easy lover, in the air tonight, tell her about it, sussudio , against all odds are bad pop.. I would disagree.

@@jrepp11 I enjoy his pop quite a bit but I can see where fans of his drumming chops had a hard time with that. I have no issue with his solo pop albums, but i REALY don't like when Genesis went pop. I find Abacab unlistenable.

This is one of my favourite albums of all time. I am reservedly excited about this release. I was never happy with sound of this album and felt it sounded muddy with the drums lurking in the background and the buried guitar. It was improved but changed by Nick Davis and I listened to that version for a while but ultimately went back to the ‘94 master. I think the ‘94 version has better dynamics. What I really want is a total overhaul. A Steven Wilson or Giles Martin type of remix, making it sound fresh and alive. What about the Shrine show? This of course was heavily doctored and released on the Anthology set a few years back. I’m hoping for an as is recording, warts and all with excellent sound. Like Yes’ Progeny live set. That would be amazing. How about another disc of demos and jams, the sounds of the album coming together. I would love to be the fly on windshield so to speak. The book? I’m hoping for an analysis? How about quality photos from the tour? Maybe a little something about the album art. And how about a separate booklet with Peter’s story done on some sorta quality paper? Maybe annotated by Peter himself. How cool would that be?! I don’t care about the Blueray as I don’t have that setup. I’ll pick up the 24/96 on Qobuz if it shows up. So, are we gonna get what I’m hoping for? Absolutely not! Pre-ordered automatically.

Ha, well it's a good thing you're reserving your excitement but I appreciate you sharing how much you love this album!

I disagree that there's nothing to grab onto in the story. It's a pretty typical story of self-discovery but done in a very surreal way. The journey of Rael has gotten me through many a hard time. People think it doesn't make sense but it makes perfect sense from start to finish. You can follow exactly where Rael is and what he's going through during every song, it's just that what he's going through is very strange. It's not a dream. Rael is literally experiencing these things and we're with him every step of the way. A lot of prog fans don't care about lyrics or what the music is about, and I think that's really silly.

I can appreciate that. I should've mentioned that Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor has expressed a really strong appreciation for this album. I'd love to get him on camera talking about what it means to him.
