The Land Before Time Soundtrack: Sharptooth and the Earthquake (movie edit)

Listening to this again it's interesting to notice how there's an actual build-up to sharptooths attack, the track is pretty calm and playful ( probably because it also covers other scenes ) but slowly it starts fading away and sharptooths attack becomes inevitable. Outside of that the suspense is pretty good, I'd say it's more the track than the actual threat itself that gives it that feel of urgency. By far the best part is the battle though, it really has this epic feel as if two titans are fighting, it's a shame part of it was left out from the movie. The earthquake is also done really well, giving it a small moment to calm down from sharptooth but however you as the viewer haven't yet realised how much of a threat mother nature's wrath is, then sharptooth makes his last attack feeling like he is about to make his fatal strike only for the earthquake to erupt and just show how small of a threat he really is compared to it. Such a great track James Horner nailed it considering this was a kids film.

This track honestly wouldn't sound out of place in any of The Lord of the Rings films. It reminds me a lot of Howard Shore.

Until the minute 6:00 almost all the parts of song have a slightly background of bad omen... they were really close to the disaster yet and you can feel it... masterpiece

Fun fact Steven Spielberg was actually concern abt some scenes of sharptooth being to scary and gruesome, so he called child psychologist to see those scenes, and it was proven that those scenes were just to scary that can cause an *acuual trauma*, so those scenes weren't deleted but destroy and their footage was never found
