LANG CRAIGS DUMBARTON
Scientific Interest: West Dunbartonshire.
This circular route 6.5 miles climbs from the streets of Dumbarton through the grounds of Overtoun House to climb up to a view point on Lang Craigs overlooking the Firth of Clyde before descending on a forestry track to pick up the cycle path running adjacent to the A82 and then back through the streets of Dumbarton.

A rocky outcrop which dominates the skyline above Dumbarton, Lang Craigs is home to sheltered glens.
A mix of ancient woodland and recent planting, www.wdwalkabout.com/lang-crai... glens, jagged outcrops, from which its takes it name and rugged moorland lies in a spectcular setting at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills.
Approximately 1.5km to the north of Milton. It comprises of a southwest facing basalt outcrop with rock ledges supporting species rich tall herb communities.
The Woodland Trust's largest site in the west of Scotland, it offers superb hiking, fascinating flora, an abundance of wildlife and wonderful views of the Clyde, Dumbarton Rock and Ben Lomond.
It is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and one of the 14 Commonwealth Woods chosen as part of the Legacy of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Over the next few years more than 200,000 trees, including oak, birch and Scots pine, will be planted at the site.
