This is a different Hadrian's Wall documentary, I cover more the history in Beyond the Wall • Hadrian's wall documen... , this is different, this follows Hadrian's Wall in almost real time; I was taken to Hadrian's Wall as a kid [aged 8] to walk the central section and stay at youth hostels.
Being a kid I imaged I could walk the entire length .. it has taken many years to complete the entire route ..this is it, but from the air.
Coast to coast slo-tv of the entire length
and sadly the last year of sycamore gap..the tree felled 28/11/23

I live very near Hadrian's wall and i never tire of seeing it. Part of local heritage it staggers me how it was built in such a short time. The romans gave us an amazing road system too.

It's amazing how this narrow ribbon across the land, whether visible or not.....represents a corridor of the ages. Hey Jules~ I'm a Yankee that lives nears Seattle. In the mid 90's, I was privileged to spend a couple of months in the UK testing wind tunnel model aircraft at Farnborough. I fell in love with your country's history, landscapes & society and explored them at every opportunity. A brief visit to a section of Hadrian's Wall left me awestruck at how time has shaped your culture. From the insights you offer in narration, to the incidental music that evokes the wall's profoundness in history, this is a moving production! Thank you, sincerely, for the great effort you've expended in it's creation~

This was a beautifully done video. I really enjoyed it. Even though it was lovely spring/summer weather I can't help but feel sorry for the poor troops stationed there in the winter! Regards from Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you!

Thank you very much, for this very beautiful and insightful documentary. It probably took a lot of hard work, time and thought. I love your narration, too. Just the right amount, at the right time and written very well. The Romans although talked about much, are never truly hailed for their achievements. Like some of the aqueducts having a grade of a few centimeters, over a kilometer or more sometimes.

This video is brilliant! Way too few views for the time and effort it must have taken to put this together! ..and well done for going east to west... the better way to do Hadrian's Wall... 😊

Impressive! Would be good to see a flyover of the Antonine wall! Might be a bit more tricky finding the route, but would no doubt be more amazing scenery!

1:10:00 from here onwards It's been 20 minutes or so that I am watching and for 90% of the time there wasn't even a single trace of Hadrian wall 😢

that part of the wall was an earth bank and faced in stone which was stolen by locals over many centuries so sadly there is little more than a mound and the ditches

I know times change but I find it disgusting that there are houses built over parts of the wall and others have just gone and now fields there, roads going over it etc. it should have some kind of coverage/protection on it being so old. Roads should go over it as bridges and houses should be so far away from it, it’s a massive part of history.

much of the damage was done over a 1000 years as farmers and locals used the wall as a ready made source of building material. And 200 years ago when General Wade used it for building material and his military road to crush the Scots. When I visit visited at the age of 8 I really wished it had been more complete.. hence this video to see the entire length and allow one's imagination to fill that 1900 years of history. thanks for watching.

Was it the largest Roman structure??🤔 Perhaps people ought to look at the Great Wall of China and the Silk Road … as one in the same…

Roman structures.. not global, and around 5 million tonnes of soil and rock was moved, quarried and built making it on par with the Great Pyramid which has a mass of 6 million tonnes

@@marcellomason Sadly the Magic 2 is discontinued ..however the good thing is there are lots of v good 2nd hand ones for sale.. I just bought a body only for £400. And thanks for prompting me...... So as you will see I have recently been to Norway and because of the huge scale of the place most of my early footage looked a bit meh. So I had to quickly develop skills and not be so complacent ..and I hoping the challenge paid off.. so I'm putting those lessons in a video which should be up in the next month, and I was prompted by your interest. I have put you on the notification list and look forward to your next video.
