Oh yeah, I forgot In the Mouth of Madness when I posted my own little list. That's a good one! Very Lovecraftian, and I've watched it a few times. Don't remember The Keep being any good (although the book was great!), but I'd be up for a rewatch.

The keep has almost zero chance of ever getting any physical releaes on bluray or 4k. Bc of Michael Mann the director has flat out said. There will not be any physical releaes of the keep on bluray or 4k. And Kino has tried to release the keep on bluray a couple of years ago. & Michael man found out that Kino was trying to release the keep & he stop Kino from releasing it on bluray. And I really hope soon we can finally get a bluray or 4k releaes of the keep

IMO ...the #1 Horror Film that REALLY needs a 4k Remaster is 1987's "Near Dark" starring Bill Paxton which supposedly is coming ...but the movie still hasn't had a release date confirmation yet. FYI though ...the original Blu-ray release is also OOP, but it was of poor quality anyway, so no great loss. 👍

Love that one, there are actually numerous Uk/Europe blu ray releases for it. I have a beautiful blu ray mediabook edition of it with newly commissioned artwork. The transfer is actually pretty nice on it. it`s also region free. Not sure what the hell is going on with that film here in the states. It seems like something shout factory would release. But nevertheless i`ve been pretty content with my mediabook edition these few years

I want Silent Hill 2006 in 4K. The Fly, yes. Pulse 2001. Martyrs 2008. Scream 4. Jacobs Ladder. Trick r Treat (the one with the pumpkin headed kid). The Descent. Constantine. If that even counts. The Hills Have Eyes remake. Final Destination 1-5 4K as well

Okay, a handful that aren't on the list here (I don't THINK any of them have had 4K releases): 1. Let the Right One In (2008) 2. Village of the Damned (1960) 3. What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) (Some might not think this a horror film, but definitely debatable) 4. Burnt Offerings (1976) 5. Byzantium (2012)

10. The 'Nightmare On Elm Street' films - (until this one gets a release here in the states, it stays on the list LOL) 9. 'Pinocchio & The Emperor Of The Night' - (it's an animated feature (and trapped on VHS), but let me tell you it is well worth the 'Horror' designation.) 8. The 'Omen' trilogy - (definitely agree with you here, Ken) 7. The 'Puppet Master' films - (Toulon's Revenge is already on 4K, but let's complete the set!) 6. Alien 3 (BOTH cuts, and with all the special features it had from the Quadrilogy/Anthology set) 5. 'Exorcist: The Beginning' - (and Scream Factory might as well roll out a 4K for 'Exorcist II: The Heretic'. They already did 'Exorcist III', so what the hell, right?!) 4. 'Gojira' (1954)/'Godzilla: King Of The Monsters!' (1956)/'Godzilla: King Of The Monsters!' (1977 Italian Cut) - (released as a very justifiable triple feature.) 3. Stephen King's 'The Storm Of The Century' - (an awesome movie that is still to this day trapped on VHS) 2. Stephen King's 'The Stand' - (This one NEEDS an all-out boutique label release. All the bells and whistles. Full restoration and remaster. Bring it on!) 1. 'Poltergeist' II & III - (where you at, Scream Factory?!)

I bought a used region free player on EBay just to own it and for Blood and Bone. Now I’m set for other BDs without a US release. The sequel is not as good, but good enough. Blood and Bone is one of White’s better films.

Yeah... but without a real 4k box set treatment, Nightmare on Elm Street still doesn't feel like we got what we wanted. At least in my opinion.

I agree. It's a start but without the sequels it's very incomplete. It will also suck when we all have the steelbook of #1 and have to buy the rest as not matching single releases or a collection including #1 again. I just know that I won't be needing the steelbook anymore when the other movies come. But if we don't buy it they might not release the rest. Feels a bit like extortion.

Several big choices for me would be "Lets Scare Jessica To Death," "Trick or Treat," "Sleep Away Camp" but my number one request is "The Beyond" which is part of the Fulci horror trilogy.. Also Phantasm needs a 4K transfer, it is one of my all time favorite horror films..

Even though it was filmed in 16MM, Martyrs (2008) would be an INCREDIBLE experience on 4K. Ti West's XXX Trilogy would be great. (I recently bought The Ocean Trilogy, so I'm thinking about trilogies at present.) X and Pearl are excellent -- and MaXXXine looks insanely cool.

I've been crossing my fingers for years that Shout! Factory or Vinegar Syndrome or another release house acquires the rights and gives us a proper 4K U.H.D.

Excellent list. I agree with almost all your picks, but I also have a few that I really think needs to be on 4k because they are very scary, IMO. Near Dark 30 Days of Night and (post edited) 28 Days Later and Dusk To Dawn. You are right, that movie, with Salma Hayek and the snake, is a must have in 4k.

We absolutely need a boutique label to pick up and remaster and release The Fly (1986) on 4k. Don't trust Disney or "20th Century Studios" doing 4k remasters after the AI Upscaling stupidity. If we finally get The Fly (1986) on 4k and its just an AI Upscale from the old master then there will be hell to pay. Would kill for a good remaster and fresh 4k scan. The same for The Omen (1976). But for The Omen I would love to see the original trilogy on 4k and maybe bundle that with the new prequel because we currently arent even getting a 4k of that.

We also need the european cut of The Shining too. Kubrick trimmed the film after the US release and the result is vastly superior. It's a shame Warner Bros didn't include this definitive version in the 4k disc.

Trick-or-treat 1986. That film was supposed to have come out last fall on 4K. However, adjust dropped for some reason maybe because of the music rights belonging to the group fastway. I don't know, but that is one that never made Blu-ray in the states and I was really disappointed when it did not come out. Last fall open, it will this year

Ken, that was strategic not include Mandy, Suspiria (2018), and The Empty Man. That way they can be included on fantasy and thriller lists so we can get more than 10 horror titles... 😉But yes, these are all no-brainer options for 4K. Let's hope the neurons are firing in the home entertainment department at these studios...

Back when From Dusk Till Dawn was originally meant to come out on 4K, it was capitalizing on the anniversary of the original release. Could be, they missed the deadline and are trying again so we may not see the 4K until 2026. Kino Lorber did a 4K for The Monster Squad last year around Halloween, now it's time for Night of the Creeps to get the same treatment.

Friday The 13th Parts 2-remake. We should have gotten at least Part 2 by now. What is the hold up with the Jason movies?!? I definitely agree with you Ken about From Dusk Till Dawn and how it should be on 4K. There’s rumors that it’s because Weinstein owns the rights. With the movies he owns, he holds onto them with a stranglehold and also, like Dogma, he jacks up the prices to buy the rights and then, when people meet his price, he puts it even higher. Really hope that’s not what’s going on with this movie, but if we ever get it on 4K, I hope they include the feature length documentary Full Tilt Boogie as well!

Good point. I think I read that Harvey does own the rights to most of Tarantino's films and several of Robert Rodriguez as well, so the two Grindhouse films will likely not be released on 4k any time soon, either.

Just going with an outlier for the fun of it. The Taiwanese horror film Silk (2006) starring Chang Chen, the dude who played Dr Yueh in the first Villeneuve Dune. This is horror treated like it was sci-fi, with a badass Chen playing a cop with a knack for details investigating the paranormal. Very underrated and needs the full boutique 4K treatment.

Some great choices there. For me, absolute top of the list is Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond- we have Zombie, House by The Cemetary and City of the Living Dead on 4k and arguably, The Beyond is the ultimate Fulci movie. Also NONE of the classic Hanmer flicks from the 50s, 60s and 70s are on 4k yet Hammer has a huge and loyal fan base across the world. We need em.

Ken, they definitely need to release the two thousand three texas chainsaw Massacre to see Jessica Biel with stunning clarity. In that film with make it all worthwhile, not to mention the film is actually the best out of all of the remakes, they did in that series

Trick R Treat is one I've been dying for since I first watched it a few months ago and is honestly my favorite horror film now but if we're talking movies that haven't made the jump yet Silent Night Deadly Night (84), Jennifer's Body, Leprechaun, Blood Rage and Jack Frost Id all love to see make the jump to the format, I would put Trick Or Treat (86) on there to but God knows when that's coming out at this point we are waiting patiently synapse

The 14 ft13 films. The gate. Witchboard. Scream 4. Warlock 1,2. 13 ghosts. Final destinations. Deep blue sea. New poltergeist Andy Warhols Dracula and Frankenstein uncut. They are on 4k but are R not X and heavily edited and cost 70$ for half a movie. Have on vhs so I know what’s missing

I'm not considering a nightmare on elm street 4k announced yet until i get a U.S. version also. Also side note i remember always seeing the Dead Alive VHS at the video store growing up, never saw it though.

Good list I agree with your list but I would add Jacques Tourneur’s Night of the Demon, and Horror of Dracula. Slightly related - Rocky Horror Picture Show too.

I'd like to see The Fly II on 4K as well, but I'm fine with the blu ray. I think Omen 2-3 need 4Ks more than the original (which is already a 4K scan) because those are just older 1080p transfers from way back, those films could look a lot better. IT would be cool on 4K, but I think the current blu ray already looks really good.
