Great video! I am close to your method but I keep the cut off installed as I had issued with some manufacturers. The cut of had a very thick flank resulting in scratching the side of the sector gear. And I love you for explaining it has not to be perfect! This isn´t rocket science and cold weather could kill a tightly shimmed gearbox.

You just gained a new sub. As someone who is fairly new to airsoft and want to learn how to service and maintain the replica thanks for this.

Not going to lie kind of skeptical at the beginning just simply because I've been taught bevel to pinion this and bevel to pinion that lol. But I must say this method seems pretty damn good so I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens from there.

Yeah check out my discord if you want a more in depth explanation: discord.gg/Pj8adPVnuH It's a more nuanced case than what many hometechs have repeated from each other. 9/10 times the issue is with motor mis-alignment, and no amount of bevel shimming will solve that.

Nice vid, i like to shim pinion and bevel first, it's just how i learned it, might try it this way and see the difference, the only thing that i don't think that is checked here is the contact area between the teeth of the bevel and spur gear.
@PerfectAirsoftАй бұрын
Thanks for commenting. Yeah you're right, it's not touched on per say. But that's because that it's the last link in the shimming steps. The bevel is defined by the pinion mesh, and the spur is defined by the sector which is defined by the piston / tappet. So the intention is simply to hope that the spur and bevel matches OK, and if they don't, use different parts. There has to be a compromise in the system, and it's best to do it there.

Bevel to pinion is the right way to do it. It is the most important point for transmitting rotation in your gearbox and it is the one that will cause the most problems

if there was any way to make AK guilds that would be great. everything you see on KZbin all use M4 V2 gearboxes and parts and they never really touch on the difference between that and the V3 style. so another great video that I know I will watch 2 or 3 times over to take in all the info.
@PerfectAirsoftАй бұрын
You're right. It's the most popular, and in theory AEG knowledge transfers between platforms, but there could be some quirks and work methods unique to V3 worth knowing. What do you suggest? Maybe let me know on discord discord.gg/55D8vuUz

If I don't have a split gearbox how do I check that the gears are properly spinning?
@PerfectAirsoft11 күн бұрын
Through the empty cylinder window or bottom/side openings.

Many people is going to burn you alive, i can clearly listen to them in my mind yelling like crazy YOU SHOULD START WITH THE BEVEL GEAR AND THE PINION OMG!!!!!! But they will be wrong, this is a fantastic shiming tutorial, i found myself doing the exactly same process (usually) as i was getting more and more experience working with guns, and working with different and weird guns not just V2 m4´s. Good job man, and dont forget to upload part 2, when installing the motor and motor grip, you know.. because of the "yellers" ^^ I will be waiting for it.

There's room for everyone. I take bevel last, but there's no problem in doing bevel first really. The important point is that bevel-pinion and spur-sector are shimmed as two seperate groups first, and then combined in the event with compromises. Thanks for the compliment. It's a long video, not everyone's cup of tea, but i've wanted to do a definitive series on AEG shimming for a while.
