If i could only have one trophy bike in the living room that would be it. Had two friends buy a couple in o4 , it hurt them and suddenly they they were to old to race anymore. One is still in a living room. Probably only half dozen tanks through it but shes been down a time or two. True beauty and perfection in my mind. It will never get better than that.

The new bike feeling is something. Anytime one of us would get a new bike, which was 12-18 months, we would call the guys and ask them to give a hand lifting something or whatever excuse. Open the garage and there’s a new bike. We would stare at it for hours knowing after the first practice, it’s over.

It's truly great to see, that there is some brand new dirtbikes from the past still out there. I still remember those 2 beautiful Honda CR125 from a few years ago. Ken is right nothing like a brand new one, just feeling different. Abit like driving a brand new car the first time.

These bikes are essentially unchanged since 1988 because they got it right. The only things this bike needs if you are going to ride it are upgraded brakes and a Ohlins rear shock (the stock one fades when hot). I like my '97 allthough it doesn't get as much seat time as my CR.

Very nice bike. Personally, the only thing that makes them collectable is that they are no longer available and the mythical power delivery from those that have not raced one and those that are selling. Sure, they are a quick bike (big bore 2Ts) but a tuned 250 will match a stock 500 and are far easier to ride on a track. KTM got it right with the 360/380s. The bike is priceless and i wish i had one sitting in the lounge room to admire

As a former wrench , I can tell you these are NOT hard to work on. New piston or rings, no biggie , even with liquid cooling. The problem would be getting parts on a 21 year old bike unless you found a donorcycle. Those 2 stroke ringy dingy Kawis are torque monsters too. 03:55 never been over a third throttle? I'd change that quickly :)

I think there are brothers in RI and one had a near showroom condition CR500 and the other had a similar KX500 long after they stopped making them. I think a friend of mine bought them and then sold them.
