I Rode a KX 500 for years, and I’m sorry I don’t still have it! It was a blast. Better bottom end and revs out farther, which is why it won so many Baja’s, Enduros, and Hill climbs! I used to whoop on the XR600’s and XR650’s, oh and whoop on the banshees in the sand. I never really had the opportunity to whoop on the CR500… The only bad thing: You go through the back tires in 1/2 a day of hard riding, lol

1987 amateur level open 125-500cc starter class had a wholeshot like never before! I was alone in first corner, started in 3rd open gas rest doing with the clutch, .... a rocket like start! Will never forget, thank you Erik! A good friend borrowed his KX after my RM125 leaked some oil... died to early. Still miss him!

Great bike! Solid design. You forgot to mention that it still holds the "WORLDS FASTEST DIRTBIKE" Honors. It took them some 20 years to do it, but Kawasaki finally beat out the venerable 1981 KTM 495, 123.75 mph crackin' old speed record for the top spot.
