I remember when y’all had 3k subbies. I love how fast you’ve grown because your videos are so honest and helpful.

Better to underbudget than overbudget. I've been doing this for years. If there's more money than expected, it goes straight to savings.

I paused the video to come down here and say THANK YOU. One of my goals for this year is to be more financially healthy, which is something I started working towards in the last quarter of 2018. I already use Mint to help me track my expenses and such, but I feel like I still don't have a strong grasp on my financial situation, so I'm watching this video, taking it all in, and then I'm going to watch the second part and go through the steps with you. I've already gotten your budget template as well. I think this is all going to be really helpful for me! Wow, this is a long comment. Whoops... :)

Yes! I love budgeting (life of an accountant) and have my 2019 budget made. It's motivating to see how much you can save/invest or pay off if you stick to your plan. I change the amounts from estimate to actual at the end if each month, so it becomes more of a cash flow statement and I can evaluate and tweak future months.

Do you have separate bank accounts for each of those topics? Or how do you make sure you don’t overspend in one and end up short on the other?

This is great and beyond helpful. I only get money about every 6 to 6 1/2 months, so it's harder to relate to people who get paid monthly. This was a great way to look at it. Thank yall! :)

Can you delve into the budget topic deeper by breaking down how much one should spend on rent, allocate to savings, other expenses etc (as in percentages)?

Love your videos. I started using your budget spreadsheet this year. I have a question regarding side hustle. How do you track the expenses? In your budget spreadsheet do you only track the profit after expenses? Thanks so much.

Can you also show us how you reconcile your budget? And do you have sinking funds?
@kimmykim12775 жыл бұрын
How do you incorporate sinking funds into the spreadsheet. For example I pay my auto insurance once every six months. So I save a portion each month
@sweetsops..4 жыл бұрын
I add a line item in Savings.. and then in that month, I subtract it on the savings line and add it at the expense line

I downloaded the free budget from @t but the template numbers are not totaling for the income and the final total at the bottom do not show if there is a deficit. Am I the only one having this issue? I am using Apple Numbers.

What advice would you give to someone younger? I feel like at 23, it's a lot harder to budget for an entire year. I am hoping to get a job making $10-and $20k more this year, as it's my second full year out of college. I am also hoping to move to either a new city (which will be expensive) or out of my apartment, and know my rent will increase up to $1k. It feels so futile to make a year long budget when everything is up in the air?
@ryannevanvliet55696 жыл бұрын
24 years old here. An anual budget is especially useful die that. You can adjust the numbers and see what your financial situation will look like and how you will adjust these new numbers in your lifestyle.

What if you have irregular income? I get paid on commission so I can't really do this.
@OneBigHappyLife6 жыл бұрын
If you look at our budget, you can see that our income varies from month to month because our YT income is unpredictable. But the real question is, do your bills wait because your income varies? Unfortunately, we all know that they don't. So if you don't have a plan in place to help anticipate them and decide how they are going to be paid, then you are setting yourself up for financial stress and, potentially, failure.--Tasha

At 7:06...do not buy a boat! You know what they say, the two happiest days in a man's life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells the boat! 🚤🙌
@becca3776 жыл бұрын
I bought a boat and it was a great decision. I live on the boat with my partner and got a very low interest loan to help with the cost. It’s low cost and allows us to live in an area we wouldn’t be able to afford in a house/flat/apartment. Selling the boat will be a sad day
@TheGenflute6 жыл бұрын
@@becca377 that sounds amazing! Totally glad that works for you. It was just a joke that makes the most sense here in the land-locked midwest where you have to haul your boat to water every time you want to fish or water ski and then store the boat, etc., etc. No offense meant! 🤗 I have a friend who grew up in part on a house boat in L.A.!

Well budgeting using your gross income is insane and unrealistic There is a 21k difference between our gross and net income Yeah 21k is how much is taken during the year so to plan a budget using our gross wouldn't work
@OneBigHappyLife6 жыл бұрын
If you budget using your gross income you would need to also include lines in your budget for taxes, FICA, an any other expenses that are deducted from your pay check before the money hits your account. Some people might have a need for tracking those expenses on their regular budget. In that case, those people would use their gross income.--Tasha
@pennylane366 жыл бұрын
One Big Happy Life yeah I would never do it that way for a couple reasons. It’s already out and life is too short to track something already deducted and out of your control My husband never prints a check stub to bring home so I don’t see those deductions till he brings home his w2
@OneBigHappyLife6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it makes perfect sense to do what works for you. Other people have different circumstances, needs, and comfort levels.--Tasha
