When I hear these people talking about masks invading their freedom, it makes me crazy. I know it's a pain but living your last week's on a vent, unable to be comforted by loved ones is truly hell. Then I think about how the responding staff is going to survive all this. The trauma of having to hold so many hands while people pass away alone must be devastating. my daughter is a critical care nurse working in the covid unit at a large hospital here in north carolina. the pain and the terror and the heartbreak that she sees everyday that this terrible virus is doing to her patients. there is currently no treatment that is working. as of i believe may over 40 patients have died in her unit with not one family member being able to comfort their loved ones, i am so afraid that my precious daughter will develop ptsd of some sort as having to deal with this virus, having to look into her patients eyes when she has to wake them up everyday to be sure they have not suffered brain damaged from being on the vents is of terror and also the complete helplessness of watching their immune system go into overdrive and attack all of the organs until the patient dies, while fighting so hard to prevent this from happening. this is why we need to wear our masks, so many who are infected with covid recovers so well and go on with lfe, but then we have the ones who end up dying, be kind always to one another, be respectful and just love one another.

My mom had lived with me since 2002 up until this past August 2019 when I needed more help caring for her. She was staying at a skilled nursing home which was under prepared for COVID19. My mom was 87. She developed a respiratory virus the first week of March. There wasn’t test kits at this time to test her for COVID19. She was negative for every other virus. She was transferred to an acute care hospital on March 16th and passed on March 19th. I was able to be with her as an end of life significant other. It was so sad. The next week the staff didn’t show up at work at the skilled nursing home she had been at because of fear they would become sick because they didn’t have proper PPE. My heart goes out to Jessica and her family and all others who have lost relatives and friends during this pandemic. I can empathise as I too suffered the loss of a close relative during this pandemic who my family and I were unable to see or even speak to before she passed. One of my beloved sisters who lived abroad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and eventually required emergency surgery. My country's borders were closed in April and my sister received her diagnosis that in July, was rushed to surgery in early August and died a few days later. Apart from a former student of hers no one else was with her during this terrible ordeal. We were not even given the courtesy of a phone call to say goodbye when her condition worsened only after she passed. That was a week ago and we are still unable to bring her remains home. Covid-19 has wrecked a lot of families.

Very difficult to watch. But very inspiring as well. Show me the ordinary people in our country are doing their duty often with heroism. taking care of their families and their elderly near and dear ones.

We lost my precious grandfather who was a healthy 75 year old with no underlying conditions after 42 days of fighting COVID. It’s so so real. When your grandmother who has been married to this man for 59 years can’t kiss him and tell him goodbye. Please please protect your loved ones. it’s real!!!

I think it would be fitting to have a Monument in NYC for the people who died from Covid-19!! To give all those some Closure for the lack of Funerals due to Covid-19

Not just in NY! There should be a national memorial on the mall in Washington. This is bigger than Vietnam and Korea together. It may end up surpassing WWII in deaths-mostly preventable but for Trump/Pence/McConnell. Their legacy will be the blood of those they killed by their inaction.
