Walking into the first covid positive room for the first time scared the shit out of me. Almost quit that day. I needed that job. It was necessity that caused me to stay. Had a big problem with people on unemployment making more money than me just by staying home. Was not prepared to be taken care of infected residents during a pandemic I didn't sign up for that. But I survived can have pride knowing I made a difference. Someday I can brag to my grandchildren Grandma survived the pandemic by taking care of the infected. Not because I was brave, oh hell no needed my job. As long as the current mode of conservatism holds high offices that won’t happen. Frontline is, first & foremost, INTELLIGENT. The producers look at issues with an emphasis on facts & analysis - both of which have become politicized. Trumpian conservatism is about fear, control, & fantasy. Facts that don’t cater to their fears are rejected, their need for control is rooted in fear, & fantasies (conspiracy theories, interpreting religion to support a political agenda, scapegoating) are fed to them to allay certain fears & amp up others. The Trumpians who walk the halls of the capital buildings have an additional agenda they desperately try to keep on the down low; self-interest. Money & social position pretty much covers it. You could say that our Founding Fathers set up a fantastical system which has always fomented conflict via hypocrisy & inconsistency. Idealistic, beautiful prose resting on a foundation built from the opposite. The only demographic all that pretty prose uniformly applied to from the get-go? White males. FACT. Every other demographic was part of the foundation, the not-so-pretty REALITY. Blacks, women, the natives of this land, the mentally impaired, religions other than Christianity (American version.) Since the Civil War - when white men as a class were FORCED to give up slavery . . . CONFLICT. The violent kick-back of the KKK & their sympathizers, women’s suffrage, the practical application of non-Xtian religions, the Civil Rights movement, the right to hold political beliefs counter to democracy/capitalism, the ERA, the LGBTQ movement, and - last but not least - the enduring struggle between institutional religion & secularism. Every single ounce of actual equality has had to be fought for on the ground & in the courts. Why? That’s not what the prose of our founding documents promised, yet here we are, embroiled in another crisis. Trump’s elevation is a nostalgic triumph of (imo) of white, male-oriented privilege. That’s the reality of “MAGA”, while it’s being simultaneously & publicly denied. Feel a little familiar? It should. Behind the scenes, a lot of Trumpians are quietly raking in the money - the one thing that can ensure they stay above the privations of the hoi polloi. So, yay MAGA-STYLE CAPITALISM! For the good of the country & our future, Trump HAS TO BE an aberration, a one-off, our first & only novelty president. If he’s the start of a trend . . . wave bye-bye to our better angels because we won’t be seeing them for a long time.

He ended up having to resign from his job which required for him to always be going from one place to another. Hardly ever had a chance to sit down for more than a few minutes. Another relative refused to get vaccinated based on her religion and about 2 weeks ago (it's 2023) learned she had covid. I don't relish being the bearer of bad news but the polio vaccine was known to be unintentionally contaminated with cancer virus and so the long history of cancer around the world from the 1960's forward. The U.S. government knew about it but could not reveal it to the American people. I learned about this by reading Judyth Vary Baker's book _Me & Lee_ . She was a young biochemistry prodigy working to find a cure for cancer and President Kennedy's alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald's extramarital lover in 1963 and they both met coincidentally and worked together on a CIA project to develop an aggressive cancer virus to be used to assassinate Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. Oswald was a secret U.S. government agent and he was assigned the task of delivering the perishable cancer virus to a contact in Mexico City in September, 1963 but the contact never showed up and Oswald tried his best to deliver the virus to Cuba himself to no avail. Oswald was later roped into a conspiracy to assassinate President Kennedy and was also part of an assassination abort mission. Needless to say he was thrust into a predicament and was set up and posthumously framed for the assassination in order to curtail suspicion of a conspiracy which is exactly what it was.

Google Google “It’s the new Democratic hoax” - Trump rally. Even his most ardent supporter has to admit the man is a walking, talking contradiction. Say one thing, do another. Reverse positions often, lie if needed. The hoax statement is less important than the continual misinfo like “It’s under control”. Confronted about that later, he spins it. Asked by a reporter at one point about lack of tests, he replies, “Everyone can get a test” (absolute BS at the time). All these things pile up.

Fauci knew the inevitable and called for an investment into our medical infrastructure to minimize the amount of human life lost in this pandemic. The point you make about Pelosi going to Chinatown and saying spend money is xenophobic. At this point, Trump was still holding campaign rallies which are bigger spreaders of the virus so you should blame him. Additionally, if Trump listened to everything Fauci was saying we would probably have a nation wide mask mandate, most schools would be online in the fall, and the Trump administration would have created a national plan to give out PPE to states and rapidly ramp up the United States testing capacity.

This honest documentary had shown us as to how the leaders of different nations downplayed the pandemic knowing its gravity, whereas few countries acted rapidly and managed to contain the pandemic. A superpower like USA could not do what a country like South Korea had done. We are in 21st Century. People deserve and have the right to be told the things which can affect their lives. Even in India, the Prime Minister Modi did the same what Trump did in USA. Our PM even asked us to lit candles, torch lights on occasion and on another to make noise by beating kitchen utencils, spoons etc. from balconies to scare covid-19... All countries knew about the virus in January from their agencies. In India Govt. imposed Lock-down on March 23, 2020 resulting in India being second country in World in Corona virus infections. This documentary is stunning and above all is honest.
@reconquistahinduism3463 жыл бұрын
You read only Rahul Gandhi I think 😂😂😂 No country knew that coronavirus spreads by person to person transmission because Chinese backed WHO said it didn't. Modi never said that lightening candles will drive out coronavirus. It was a moral booster and preparation towards complete lock down for which people weren't ready. Modi cancelled all flights to India way before the Chinese WHO said that covid is a pandemic He imposed lock down only when India had just 500 odd cases because he sensed the danger before hand. India being a massive and developing country would have fared 100 times more worse had it not been for Modis vision . When the whole opposition did nothing but added destruction and misery instead of fighting covid19. And you don't compete countries blindly. There is a lot of DIFFERENCE between India and other countries. Indian statistics in per capita terms is way below other countries. You compare the death rates and case rates with respect to the population and the development status. India with 1.4 billion people and a developing country did way better than most countries in controlling cases and deaths. Even in second wave , the case rate and death rate was quickly brought down even when the opposition spread corona with fake farmer protest. Don't think people today are stupid as they were in Congress rule. People know everything today.

Coming to your "experts" , they were puppets and stooges of either the China , US or communist racist western media. They were proven wrong many times in 1st wave and also in 2nd wave. They had even said that , "Covid19" is non transmissible 🤣😂 Yes Modi did goof up initially , but he more than compensated by delivering free and largest vaccination drive in the world , and managing the second wave wonderfully as compared to ALL world leaders. All the opposition ruled states did NOTHING to tackle Covid. The opposition parties did absolutely nothing to tackle second wave nationally. Modi tried his best and the results were obvious. Today , Modi is the most popular leader than he has ever been. Modi swept all 5 major state elections , throwing Congress to dust. You said you lost family members but that's ok because your votes don't matter. Congress voters have no relevance today. Modi is ruling supreme. I started keeping an eye on what was going on from the first time I heard about the outbreak in China although few other Americans seemed to be paying much attention even after it hit Italy. Everyone around me except my son were shrugging it off because it was "over there". The world is a small place. Something you will realize if you've ever traveled. Because so many travel things can spread around the planet rapidly it's not like it was back when it took a long dangerous trip by ship a hundred years ago.

I was fervently reading the news during that time. In school I would tell my classmates that it seemed worrying, though they played it off and said I was just being anxious like I usually was. I didn't care, I thought it seemed worrying, and the downplaying of it didn't make me feel any better.

Same here. Especially since I live in an area where a lot of Asian people do also. I knew many went to their homeland to celebrate the holiday. Wasn't surprised it became a pandemic due to rapid travel. Much wasn't known about the virus and it was able to spread that much more quickly. And here we are two years later.

In mid-Feb last year I lived on Long Island in NY and had the WORSE flu-like symptoms I can recall. I ended up getting a chest x-ray and being diagnosed with "asthmatic bronchitis", buying $100 worth of meds, and going home. It took a few weeks to get better, and I was still coughing when Covid became a concern. My sister and her son who lived downstairs also felt a bit sick with something, so did my mother who hates taking over-the-counter meds due to her heart meds... I still wonder if I had gotten it and they didn't catch it.

By the time it had spread to that Washington state senior facility, I was paying attention... by the time it had reached New York City a week or two later, I was preparing for the worst. This was sometime around late January 2020. Knowing how integral public transportation is in NYC, I couldn't imagine it being contained without extreme & unrealistic quarantining.

What also is not shown here is the states responses. New York being the worst. CDC and Trump gave guidelines to each State for shelter in place, social distancing etc. CA Newsome, adopted these early and was criticized by many. CA had relatively low cases per capita compared to the rest of the US early on. New York had an opposite response. March 16 Cumo still refused to approve stay in place orders. March 18, Cuomo reaffirmed that he would not approve a "shelter-in-place" order for New York City. "That is not going to happen, shelter in place, for New York City. For any city or county to take an emergency action, the state has to approve it. And I wouldn't approve shelter in place." On March 22, Cumo finally implemented the New York Stay at home order. Meanwhile cases had drastically spread nationwide wide. But folks only remember Cumo for his COVID response award. Later Newsome would be criticized again (this time legitimately) for having dinner parties while he ordered the rest of the state to be shutdown for extended periods of time.

I'm so glad this documentary was finally released. The people deserved an explanation. Without it we would be headless chickens running around blaming and pointing fingers each other for the blunders committed by the leader who was supposed to protect U.S. citizens. When the entire world outside the U.S. has no faith in the leader of the U.S. then the entire U.S. populace suffers; and suffered we did. Suffering we are. Let's get out of this debacle and work on being respectable once again.

This is NOT an explanation. It's a biased, one-sided point of view which excludes a host of other facts, and events. and without a broad considerations of a dynamic, evolving circumstance across four months...December through March. Think back to mid-February, when the Diamond Princess was docked in my town, Puerto Vallarta, getting ready to return to SF and then on to Hawaii, and given the limited number of cases known in the USA at the time, and quoted in the narrative, what would you have thought of a government order for a nationwide physical isolation policy? Even now, people want their lives back.

Yes. Here in the Republic of South Africa the Army was called in to assist the police in enforcing the regulations. And that is what they did. Killed a man inside his own home because he had a beer in his fridge. Violence and force. The police shot and killed an autistic teenager because he did not answer their questions, then the policewomen claimed she thought the firearm was loaded with rubber bullets. South Korea should be proud.

I'm almost certain, without a doubt, that we had the virus here before they even knew we did. My uncle died here in Indiana in February when we were just being told that it was a few cases in NYC. We all got sick, with a horrible cough, and he was 69yrs old, but a healthy, and vibrant 69 yrs old, but he got it so much worse than the rest of the family. We have a weird situation, but he lived with my stepmom after my dad died. So she was gonna take him to the hospital when she got home from her 10 to 6 shift st work. She got home and found him slumped over in the bathroom, and the only thing anyone could think of was that he passed out while coughing, and he died. She had spoken on the phone to him an hour before getting home. She immediately called paramedics but nothing they could do for him. We all wonder to this day if he wasn't one of the 1st to pass from it here in Indiana. Then a few months later we lost the pastor of my mom's church. My spiritual father, who taught me all i know about faith and the Bible. So another big loss. Then a few months later we lost our great grandma. Again she was old. She was 81, but she was a healthy, vibrant, still a mover and shaker, 81. She caught it, and 24 hrs from the development of a cough she was gone!! Just too much pain and loss for our family!! We just had it for the 2nd, or possible 3rd time last month. This time it wasn't anything more than being tired and cold symptoms. But its so sad when we look back. The whole family thought i was crazy when I started wearing a scarf to go in the stores in early Feb 2020. I knew once Wuhan shut down that it was bad and I'm just an idiot layman! How they thought we wouldn't get it was just ridiculous to say the least. So many good people lost because of the governments slow and frankly on Donald Trump's behalf, criminal, down playing of the virus. I think Pence wanted to tell the truth, along with Fauci, but the others were liars thru and thru!!! May all the people we lost, R.I.P. You'll never be forgotten! We who loved you, will always remember!! 😢
