G. Schirmer Concert Band - Grade 5
Composed in the style of a grand and descriptive film score, The Last Centaur is a musical depiction of a centaur who is separated from his family by war, the ensuing adventures, and ultimate reunion with his family and friends. The music begins with a stately, lyrical theme in the horns followed by solo oboe. This main theme is then woven throughout the work as it develops and grows with intensity. Sweeping woodwind lines and majestic brass fanfares capture the excitement of the drama and ultimate joyous resolution. Powerful and evocative writing! (Recorded by the West Genesee (NY) High School Wind Ensemble - Andrew Perry, conductor)

Currently playing this piece in my senior year of high school (Grad year 2022). I've been with the same band and band director for 6 years, and I'm already feeling the nostalgia. Man, it's just so nice being in my band and knowing these people for so long. I am not the best french horn player, but I'll do my best to give the piece the respect it deserves.

If they make something similar to this, the bass trombone, the contrabasses, and the tubas should play their lowest notes at C1.
@TheoSKMultitracks
@TheoSKMultitracks 2 жыл бұрын
Even better idea - Bb1. It’s higher, for sure, but you could feasibly have a *lot* more people playing it (Trombones/Baritones/Tubas/String Basses/Bass Clarinet?/Contrabass Clarinet/Bassoon/Contrabassoon) - it’d also help that the 3-valve Baris and triggerless Trombones could actually play those notes without using false tones, so there’s some extra body in that. Maybe get the Tubas & Contrabassoons to play Bb0 (+ String Basses could also maybe drop tube down there) for extra unholiness? Yeah…..I get excited quickly. I love to see this sort of idea anywhere, regardless of how it’s done

It allows Galante to be really flexible with notes to have no key signature. There are also so many accidentals that a key signature would be essentially useless. You can still transcribe it, just do it using the no flat no sharp key for every instrument and then add in the accidentals.
