Indeed. I started vaping years ago which honestly saved my life. Obviously smoking/vaping anything is going to be bad for you but vaping 1ml of nicotine and 4ml of vape juice isn't anywhere near as bad as smoking a pack and a half a day and the sheer cost of smoking that much these days, oy vey! Hahah

@@angrymetalhead yeah, I smoked for 16 years vaped for 4 then I was like... I'm vaping 1.5mg and mixing it with 0.. I could be spending my money in a better way. Absolutely saved me though, now I can't even enjoy a cigarette because I cough and wretch uncontrollably.

I stopped smoking cigarettes a long time ago, over a decade ago actually. I would smoke mostly when socialising especially when drinking alcohol, and even now many years later if I have a few beers at a party or something I find myself wanting to smoke a cigarette for some reason. The best way to combat the cravings for me is to smoke a joint of some nice weed. 😁 works every time.

Never thought about it until reading your last sentence, but humanity's discovery of fire and how to create it, led to the burning of many things to find warmth. From the burning of many things to find warmth is how we must have discovered the effects of breathing in certain things. Creating a fire for warmth and protection from wild animals is a form of peace, in a way. So, perhaps smoking has some instinctual primordial memories that reside... of safety and warmth in times of danger and cold. Or perhaps I'm thinking too deeply about it.

I smoked 3 packs a day for 20 years. Then I found this vape called Vaporesso, and a vape juice by airfactory, unflavored. It's the only vape setup I've found that completely satisfies my urge to smoke. It's been 2 months now and in all that time, I've only had 2-3 real cigarettes a day, which I have with a morning, evening, and night cup of coffee. I've got no urge for the real thing now other than those three times a day, 3 real ones. You should switch over to this, if you're a heavy smoker like I was.

This is the sort of sequel to Smoke (1995), although nowhere near as strong as that film and missing great chemistry between Keitel and late great William Hurt and that film has a more linear feel to it. This is still a fun watch for scenes like this. It's nice to see Harvey Keitel play just loveable everyday guy for once. Blue in the Face was filmed over 5 days straight after Smoke finished. Also great to see the fantastic Jared Harris in a early performance.

There were only two really important directors in the 90s, and Jim Jarmusch is one of them.

That line about sharing a smoke with your lover kinda got to me, reminded me of being young, having horrible sex on the floor because nobody knows what the fuck they are doing at that age, and enjoying a smoke together without the worries that comes with being a boring adult

I will always remember this conversation - I watched it in the 90s and to this day I keep it in my mind as a lively image. And I agree with all about the cigarettes that Jim is saying. I quit a long time ago, but there is not a single day I would not miss ciggies.

I wonder if any smoker in the UK can remember the last time they could lift a cigarette and smell it. Or light it up, smoke it and taste it? You know, that tobacco smell or taste. Or any non-smoker sitting near a lighted cigarette who remembers the last time they could smell the smoke. All this from the most expensive cigarettes in the world. Minimum £12 for a pack. Greece €3.80. Philippines €0.0012. Same brand.
