Indeed. I started vaping years ago which honestly saved my life. Obviously smoking/vaping anything is going to be bad for you but vaping 1ml of nicotine and 4ml of vape juice isn't anywhere near as bad as smoking a pack and a half a day and the sheer cost of smoking that much these days, oy vey! Hahah

I stopped smoking cigarettes a long time ago, over a decade ago actually. I would smoke mostly when socialising especially when drinking alcohol, and even now many years later if I have a few beers at a party or something I find myself wanting to smoke a cigarette for some reason. The best way to combat the cravings for me is to smoke a joint of some nice weed. 😁 works every time.

Never thought about it until reading your last sentence, but humanity's discovery of fire and how to create it, led to the burning of many things to find warmth. From the burning of many things to find warmth is how we must have discovered the effects of breathing in certain things. Creating a fire for warmth and protection from wild animals is a form of peace, in a way. So, perhaps smoking has some instinctual primordial memories that reside... of safety and warmth in times of danger and cold. Or perhaps I'm thinking too deeply about it.
