I don't think it's your fault that college can be lonely. When my sister was in college (she graduated around 2007), everyone talked to each other. People in her major would save a table in the cafeteria around the clock, so their peers could come and go throughout the day. By the time I went to college in 2015, classrooms were silent because everyone was on their phones. I usually didn't make friends in classes unless out of necessity; I could feel the others were just doing things transactionally and didn't want real friendship. It was fake/forced. I had to have a job, though, so I made friends with the students who did the same job as me. They were wonderful and I wouldn't trade it for the world. The only part that made things even more lonely was when people's parents would shit on us at our job (not seeing that their kids and us were equals), and students who bought party supplies from us, which made us feel that there was a class divide.

I genuinely understand you. It makes me feel lonely sometimes, but I always try to meet new people and attend all possible events, such as running club (since you love running like me), hiking, or other relatively crowded occasions. Going to the cinema alone is quite fun too. You’ll figure out what really fits you. ❤
