They are just beautiful in free flight. I use to have a macaw named Pedro and his vocab was around 1000 words and he formed so many sentences I lost count on those. But they are such amazing birds.

I wanted to move to the country side too but Chester loves watching people passing by from the window. They always stop and wave hello to him and say a few words. I was scared he would miss that so I didn’t move. But I’m gonna watch to see if Mickey and Mia like the country and maybe I’ll reconsider. So I’m basically I’m gonna learn from your experience. Hi there, Thanks for all the work you do with birds and your videos. I was hoping you have had some experience with people free flying little birds and would give me some guidance please. I have 2 lineolated parakeets and adding another 2 next year. They are little like budgies. Would it just be too unsafe to free fly because of their size - other birds and predators? Smaller birds are a higher risk to fly but we do have many friends that fly cockatiels, conures etc so it is possible. To free flight train a bird takes time and patience, anywhere between 3-6 months for a flighted bird. It’s a lot of desensitisation, positive reinforcement, getting diet right, a bunch of recall etc. Basically around 20 hours worth of knowledge. If I buy 2 so they can keep each other company, Can I still provide a loving atmosphere for them if I am away for 8 hours most weekdays? So you can keep them, but they will need a lot to keep them busy, and stimulated. Lots of foraging toys, a decent amount of space, cockatiels love being in a flock, maybe message @soaring wings flock, they have a few and know a-lot more.
