Greg Stock holds the honor of being Yosemite National Park’s first official park geologist, and he may very well be the last to study its glaciers. As rising temperatures continue to wreak havoc, causing more and more ice depletion each year, the fate of the park’s indispensable glacial landscape is unknown.

realizing the correlation between Earth's temperature and CO2 in the atmosphere over the last 800,000 years and then seeing the amount that CO2 has raised in the last 150 years is mind blowing. we are heating up the planet at an extreme rate. we are headed to double the amount of any cycle in the last 800,000 years.

I used to know of a few glaciers I saw 25 years ago around the sierras, but they’ve all seem to have faded away with climate destabilization. Column of the Giants in the Dardanelles had a glacier under the rock field there, but that’s likely gone too.

And then came the winter of 2022/23, which broke the snowfall and snow pack records going as far back as we have data for.

If anything, it’s indicative of Global Climate Destabilization, of which warming is a secondary by product of.

Will you please explain how global warming occurred so severely that all of the glaciers in California disappeared and all of the lakes that were in the Death Valley disappeared and the connection between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Channel Islands disappeared and all this happen without any industrialization and no CO2 how could we explain such aggressive global warming before the first engine was ever invented

It happened slowly before. Its happening fast right now. thats the problem, organisms dont have time to adapt. the things you mentioned above occur on a timescale of tens of thousands of years, unlike hundreds like we see with out weather today.

You don't know that. You are speculating. Prove that if it happens over hundreds vs thousands of years it's somehow bad or worse. It may have happened on a faster timescale way back in history at some point. We don't know all of history. Whose to say this is any different than any other changes in earths past. Yes it may be faster or it may not be it's different. It's only humans who are arrogant enough to think they have all the answers and that they can change the earth so dramatically.@@jonathanh.robbins7779

Great documentary. Its so freaking annoying and bothers me me seein the pics from 1883 and 1903 seein those beautiful glaciers and then what man is doin to the planet. They been there 4 thousands of years many generations and within a few generations and less than 200 years they almost gone. Omg its sad. I love the mountains and glaciers lets stop fuckin shit up mankind

In the Winter of 2016-2017 there was over one hundred feet of snow fall throughout the Sierra. Looked like 1900. I hiked over Donohue Pass in August of 1972 and those glaciers didn't look much bigger then than they do in August most years, 2017 being an exception. Right now most temperate Latitude glaciers in the world were made by the little ice age and the years without a summer after Tambora blew. We are only one super eruption away from another Ice Age. No need for all the alarmism, did you know that the Planet is 15% greener? Look it up. Some climatologists say that will slow warming by a good proportion and may balance out if we let it, but they are not given a voice.
