Glad to hear you are sending those holleys back for refund. Customers only voice is their wallets. Customer loyalty will only extend so far, and holley are crapping on their customers from a great height. Holley however are not alone in this fiscal behaviour, UTG and others have had auto parts problems with hydraulic lifters and dodgy camshafts.. Best regards.

Exactly what I said on the last video. You are 100% right on everything you said. It's a damn shame that a made in China carburetor is way better quality and better priced then a made in usa carburetor.

made in china but designed and engineered by americans over decades, with hundreds of thousands of hours of r and d, it's not as hard to copy something that someone else has spent a lifetime developing and that has to be worth something. if those metering plates and bowls would fit a holley and are priced reasonable i would buy them and upgrade my holley with them.

Even though vac secondaries are a bit crappy you can actually do some good things with them particularly in multi carb setups. Based on your findings I wouldn't hesitate using a couple of these modded a bit to my liking. So you can find these adjustable vac cannisters that have ports on top so you can synchronize the secondary openings. I assume Holley ones will fit the Jegs carb, then you can play around with the adjuster screw[s] to open the secondaries sooner or later. On top of that you can convert them to fully adjustable metering blocks if the dual quad installation isn't inline. So you'd almost get two modified Jegs vac sec carbs including Jegs fully adjustable metering blocks for the cost of one Holley DP + better metering blocks. Edit: I should add, it kinda comes down to long term durability with the Jegs carb. You see vac sec Holleys that are decades old and you can still often rebuild them. I wonder if you'll ever see that from the Jegs Chinese carbs. The fact they have square bases is important. I'm disgusted as you with those idiot Holley bases I must say. What the hell is going on there I wonder? Who's letting this into the hands of customers? Why is it happening? Who's responsible? What's the deal with QC? Why, How? WTF??? The other thing is production run changes that might render your Jegs modded carbs useless if you have to change them because they wore out. Time will tell I guess.

As a Tooling Engineer, I've designed Dies(Die Casting) & Molds(Plastic Injection) & what I see is similar to the corporate ladder climb like the Automakers. You can't start & continue the climb unless you 'make money'. That means, deferred maintenance or prolonging the regular maintenance schedule. It also means that the time required to properly 'cast' or 'mold' a component has been improperly shortened. "Time is Money". So the people who make these 'decisions' are not familiar w/ the process like they need to be. You made the right decision to return the junk. The improperly machined mounting surface would've been enough for me.

It's absolutely dumbfounding to me how far Holley carburetor quality has sunk. An HP holley from 10 years ago didn't have any of these issues and it was made out of basically pot metal. Now they are made out of aluminum.... I'll just never understand why they deem this acceptable other than some sort of agenda, to get rid of carburetors. Oh and thanks for watching and leaving a comment like that. We definitely need folks like you leaving comments like that, maybe, just maybe we can have an impact on Holleys decision making process
@carmiethompson2676

@@ScottsSpeedShop The only way greed is addressed & corrected is what you are doing right now, returning poorly made product for a FULL refund. Also, letting Holley's competitor's know of your disgust w/ Holley's product. What you showed in your video is lengthy to explain in a forum like this, so I generalized the condition, "Time is Money" & that means greed. Just to clarify, I don't want people to think that I'm referring to Capitalism, that's a completely different angle & it's a good thing. It's just that some people think the 'short-cut'(to enable the greed) is acceptable. Stay angry.

On the holley carb the baseplate itself is probably not actually warped, the throttle body casting is probably not flat as cast and was not machined to correct it and the baseplate gets distorted when it gets fastened to the throttle body. A very bad issue with the Chinese carbs is fasteners. Many don't use knurled screws or Locktight on the butterflies. I've found engines tend to run poorly with carb parts flinging around valves and pistons. That could just be me though. Okay so you just need to rebuild your new carb before you run it. Knowing that, is it still worth it? Yes. Yes it is.

That black coating should stay nice for a long time, compared to any polished aluminum carb. If you have to park outside, humidity turns the aluminum all chalky. You can spray em with WD-40 or something, but the old dichromate coated, zinc body Holleys didn't need it.

Great perspective: Rather than pouting and saying I'll never buy... A good public demo with a quest to make H do better to keep US workers employed is night and day difference. There are many mouths to feed and mortgages to pay by the workers at H here in the US. Sloppy work like that for the $ they ask is unacceptable. I've seen cyclone fence fittings with better fit and finish- no joke.

I know people that work at places that make parts for Holley and it’s no wonder the prices are as high as they are and quality as low as it is. Atleast once a week I get a story of how a whole day was nothing but bad parts or something or another screwed up. It all comes to the simple fact that Americans just show up for a paycheck now days they don’t care what it is they are making or if they are doing it right. It’s just sad how this countries gone.

What’s the deal, they don’t even have this carb listed on their website? Found it in an eBay listing but says out of stock which I’m not surprised. Did you send it back? If not I’d be interested lmk. Thank you.

Dang that one carb looks to have bad heat shrink during the making, I worked in foundries for years and see alot of that on casting, surprised that they even allowed it to pass the Inspection and out onto the market, sorry u had to go thru that man, I couldn't agree with you more of poor quality products, hope u can find a good carb somewhere

Cold does not exist. It's the absence of heat.

That makes sense. Everyone in CA has the "You have to accept me for what I claim to be". So maybe those Holley carbs identify as super duper high quality.

I hate to say it, but Chinese copies of Weber IDF carbs are now better than authentic Spanish made Weber IDF carbs.

Jegs makes allot of really nice stuff. I only wish they would Stop putting jegs all over there items and I think they'd sell allot more too. No body wants to advertise they bought cheaper products

Holley has really dropped the ball ! Got a new 1050 and my old one looks better than the new one ! Not sure what I'm gonna do but i won't be getting another Holley till they hire some qc. and set actual standards that are above and beyond what is being pumped out of China! Motorcycle carbs from China are like that too I got a knock off mikuni that performs better on my v twin than a real mikuni and it cost next to nothing ! The real mikuni was big money !
