After three years discussing the Vatican’s 1995 list of 45 important films, Thomas and James have finally reached the final movie! Made in 1927, it’s a five-and-a-half-hour long, epic, technically dazzling silent film about Napoleon.

The title says the last great silent film but what about the 1928 silent French film La passion de Jeanne d'Arc

Good choice of matinee, hilarious choice of Prince Valiant comic hair. Congratulations on completing the list, gents. What's next on the Criteria?

Thank you, Adam! Big picture is having more freedom to discuss whatever films we want, taking listener requests, discussing the various papal documents (Pius XI and XII) on cinema, covering different directors... I was thinking we would finish Tarkovsky's films later this year, but now I'm feeling like I want a break from all that and want to start with Terrence Malick instead. But, I really really want the next film we cover after the list to be Apocalypto, which I haven't seen. It's been fixed in my brain for the last year or two that we must do this.
