Apart from the boat in the fishermans museum in Hastings, there does not appear to be any beach sailing luggers survived, according to Historic ships register. Could that be true, given how many other types have been rebuilt or newly built? The Looe luggers, Falmouth working boats and Pilot cutters seem to have a large following.

Can anyone tell me about the large traditional boat currently on a berth at River Brede moorings? Is it the same one that was on a slip on the banks of the Rother a bit further downstream for several years? I’ve an interest in traditional boats and boatbuilding and live nearby, and often wondered about the project

Your dad Derek Phillips, would kindly give me helpful advice when I started out in boatbuilding, ..the name "Gentleman" pretty much summed him up. (John. ..RB Boatbuilding Ltd)
