I just watched this video as a refresher for the 2nd time (1 year later) and found it to be even better than the first time! Well done!

Again, you have provided us with a very thorough and well explained playthrough. I hope you will do more such examples of this game. I love the way you explain things so thoroughly and make it easy to follow.

Thanks for this, the system is great and simulates the semi simultaneous confusion of engagements at a tactical level that Igo/Ugo just can't do and the action/reaction sequence which the rules seem to overcomplicate but the narrated example simplifies. One issue is at 44:11 American assault total of 10 is correct but bracketed breakdown is not, it should be (2 2nd squad + 3 3rd squad ....the rest is ok), not ( 1 1st squad + 1 3rd squad....).

Another great video. I've been looking at this game, glad to see your review.

clip.those.counters hahaha. My OCD is massively triggered :). I just played a scenario of this last week. I have to unlearn everything from every other tactical game whenever this hits the table, but I really like the game/system.

Great playthrough. On the game itself, I love how hill contours are done - I pretty much bought the game on the aesthetics of the maps alone.

Hi and thanks, your videos always help me a lot. Just to understand, but at 28:39, having an American squad within 2 hexes (it is adjacent), why does the German 2-a section remain concealed?
@StukaJoe10 ай бұрын
4.3.1.1(c): A non- vehicular unit loses its Concealment marker if it fires from a cover-terrain hex in LOS and within two hexes of an enemy unit [EXC: 20.9.2b]. At 31:20, German squad 2-a loses its Conceament marker when it fires at the adjacent American squad.

Hello! This is the best channel for me for play reports, your method represents the gold standard for me for AARs/play examples. No time wasted, pure gameplay. Subbed and liked from the getgo. I would like to ask you something. Do you have a favorite among the hex and counter type wargames?
@StukaJoe2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad you like the videos. I don’t have a favorite hex and counter type game. But the one I have played the most is The Russian Campaign. Cheers!

Could you give me an idea how much table space the map requires? Thanks, great video.
@StukaJoe7 ай бұрын
The example shown uses only one map. Each map in the game is 16" x 11". There are 6 geomorphic maps included with the game. There are scenarios that use different numbers of maps. Cheers! And thank you.

Great vid and production quality. top notch stuff. I hope you revisit LHY and provide us with more recent play throughs. Play a full mission and teach us more that is not in the playbook. Thanks!

Great video. I was curious about purchasing this game and you really made play clear and simple to understand. Question for you -- what software do you use to edit your videos so that you put the arrows and tidbits on top of the video? Thanks.
@StukaJoe2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I used VLLO to edit this video and add arrows and other things. It’s an app that comes for iOS and also Android devices. Cheers!

Hi Joe Quick one - @31:26 do you not get a +1 for proximity too? Taking the DRM to -1?
@billyriley4922 жыл бұрын
Nevermind Joe - I was wrong (thought I would be tbh). The proximity is only if a unit ends it's movement within 2 hexes...that unit was already in that position - it hadn't moved.

This is so good so far! I won't be able to finish it today but just wanted to ask something. I've read the rules but still haven't absorbed them. At 7:48, you mention that the attack on Cherry's hex has a -3, which includes -1 from the Stone Wall. In Last Hundred Yards, do the walls give you benefits even if the firing units are on a higher elevation?
@RonLWilson2 жыл бұрын
BTW, in this video I show how to play an Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) scenario (using an ASL map) but with The last Hundred yards (LHY) pieces and rules (in this example I am playing the ASLSK #1 scenario S1 Retaking Vierville since it is pretty simple with no hills and just infantry with no heavy weapons, ordinance , or vehicles and such). kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIWZomtoj8d6q7s This way one can use many of all those many ASL scenarios out there as LHY scenarios (with some special scenario rules to make them work out). As such, the scenarios play out quite differently than when using ASL rules and I think more realistically as well as more streamlined in that there are far less phases and die rolls and such in the LHY versions but at the same time it keeps an ASDL flavor to them plus one can employ ASL rules as special scenario rules. For example I used the ASL ELR to assign the Casualty Differential Values (CDV) in LHY, the US with and ELR= 5 and the German with an ELR of 3 but I doubled that since the German is on the attack so I gave the US a 5 for their CDV and the German a 6. And since LHY does not have Orchards I treat those like Tree Lined Roads and fields like Smoke only not as high). And for the German 4-4-7 in ASL I assign that a range of 8 not 10 as is standard for the other German infantry units in LHY. So I am finding this is great fun to play these ASL scenarios as LHY ones! BTW, the video production quality is a bit bad in that I was having some technical problems with holding my camera and pointing it on my game table but the video may be good enough to convey the basic idea.
