"The Last Jew in the Village" (English version)
"Последний еврей в деревне" (Russian version): • Д/фильм "Последний евр...
Director: Rufat Asadov
Abandoned village. This is a village founded by mountain Jews in Azerbaijan in the 19th century. There is a Jewish cemetery near the village. An old man is working at the grave. He is watering a sapling and wiping the grave-stone. This is Meyer. He is the only Jew who stays in the village. There are his father's house, a small plot of earth and a household... He knows everything about this village. He remembers the persecution of the rabbinate in Soviet time, and the troubles of the 1941-1945 wartime, and the post-War years. He is a real living history of this village, and the only nexus between the Past of this Jewish village and the Present time. His parents and his wife and his neighbours as well are buried in this cemetery. He is all time looking after the graves, for they are not to be overgrown with weed and the grave-stones are not to be destroyed... He knows the life story of every Jew buried here indeed!

@Voracious Reader its his choice to live as he does. He could have left with the others but he chose to stay where he has been. He is undoubtedly an introvert and probably has a low need for people. If he has adult children, he may prefer to live on his own and not in close proximity to them. Not everyone is desperate for company or is terrified of old age and death. Life comes to us one day at a time. Good for this man. People respected him enough to let him continuing doing his thing, he can still do it, everyone's an individual. Don't project your own insecurities, not everyone wants to be around family for one reason or another. He has joys that other people have no knowledge of

@Voracious Reader He made no mention of either bliss or of misery. The lives of many Jews in Europe was one of tragedy and sorrow for a thousand years--murder, wandering, poverty and conversion. So with that as his backdrop, I'm not sure he is any more sorrowful than should be expected, and maybe less.

Y’know. I’m enjoying these comments: Lovely, kind, vibrant. But some commenters can’t stand that love and positivity. They gotta stir up some debate so somebody can be WRONG while somebody else will be right. Chill brothers and sisters. This is love. Let it be. OK? Nix the battles, pontificating and arguments. Take a deep breath. Let the light in.

John 8:32-38 King James Version (KJV) 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Amos 9:7 7Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? Food for thought. SONG OF SOLOMON 1:5 KJV "I black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem. 6“Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me Acts13:1 “Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called NIGER. Etymology Probably immediately from French nègre or Spanish and Portuguese negro (“a black African”); ultimately from Latin niger (“black”). Compare Danish nigger, Swedish nigger, German Nigger, Dutch nikker. Doublet of negro and noir. The real Jews are blsck.

@@melissaisrael3905 You are wrong as can be - Jews were never black, plus Ethiopian "Jews" are recent converts & were ignorant of basic Jewish laws when they established their claims to being Jews! Not that there is anything wrong with blacks unless they try to assume other people's identity & rewrite history with their pathetic ignorance of analogies & meanings in the Jewish Scriptures.

With all due respect, Jesus as Messiah, son of God and part of the Trinity is a Greek/Roman concept, found nowhere in Judaism. Please understand, I’m sure your blessings were heartfelt, and I do not say this out of disrespect for you, but out of the frustration when people mistake Christianity coming from Jewish Scripture. Nothing is further from the truth. Read up on how gods and caesars were born of virgins, etc. Isaiah is a mistranslation. There are even prophecies that Jesus supposedly fulfilled that don’t even exist in Hebrew Scripture. I hope your faith brings you a sense of brotherhood, goodwill and the will to fight for Justice. Be well and be safe.

Thank you for your thoughtful, heartfelt response DD Burrows. You are right in that the Catholic religion has its origins in Roman/pagan history. Jesus is Jewish & is the most famous Jew that has ever walked the earth. Not all Christians follow the Roman Catholic pagan faith, some just love God and his son Jesus & carefully follow all of Gods commandments. There are lots of scriptures that point to Jesus as the son of God in the Hebrew bible, not just Isaiah 53. Proverbs 30 4Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name-and his son’s name? Tell me if you know! May God turn his face towards you DD Burrows & shower his loving kindness on you🌷 & blessings on Israel forever 🇮🇱

My dear Jewish brothers and sisters, Yeshua was Yahovah in the flesh just as Abraham had foreseen as the only begotten Son who laid down His for the sins of the world and it will be Him who returns to rule and reign on earth. Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah but the one to come first will be the human anti-christ that deceives many of Israel and the world into believing he is God, except a small remnant of Jewish believers. Quit following talmud, it is not inspired by the Ruach Hakodesh, rather it is the words of fallen men. Study only Torah and the prophets and burn that babylonian Talmud. Nothing good comes from babylon no matter how esteemed your rabbis were from there. Read your Torah and prophets and then read the New Testiment and find out how Jewish Yeshua really was.
@jamesniswender2346

Weberman Elisheva, its unfortunate that all of Christianity is lumped all together with pagan Roman Catholic Church, which is why there was a Protestant Reformation. But you should know this, right? I'd like to have a conversation with you without spouting off names of revulsion. I'm no idolworshipper. I am a believer in Yahovah, creator of heaven and earth, who sent His Son, and thought it not robbery to call Yeshua his Son, as the suffering servant of Yosef, who bore our iniquities and willingly gave His life for us, just as it says in the Torah and Tanahk. Who took the curse and was hung on a tree, just as it is written. Yeshua will return as the conquering Son of David, to rule with a scepter of iron over the nations. Now these are all things written in the Torah and much of it has already come to pass with many more to come. However, just like pagan catholic religion and the pope has kept mainstream Christianity under a spell of darkness, so to has Talmudic Judaism under the Oral Law. Both renditions are driven by the satanic forces of darkness. I follow after Yeshua and Torah not the pope just as you should follow the Torah and Prophets and not oral traditions of rabbis from the Talmud. Now, I've said all that without disrespecting you sir.

What a beautiful story. I'm a bit saddened at the thought that he is missing such golden opportunities to know the next generation in this beautiful family chain. He is a living link between the loved ones buried in the cemetery, and his children and grandchildren who are the next links. It seems they love him and want to be with him and know him. Perhaps grandchildren who will miss the gift of knowing him and his important and interesting stories. Each person must choose their own path, and do what makes them happy. He has his reasons for staying where he is, and it is clearly what his heart tells him to do. It is not for me to judge....I only hope he does not have regrets when it is too late. He is clearly a very special man, and I hope he always feels the peace and contentment he is blessed with.❤ Thank you for sharing his most poignant story.

Do know, for Salvation is from the Jews. Grace be with you all.

@Sabrina Shahab/ADMINISTRATIONBRAC Is/ADMINISTRATIONBRAC It's difficult - no, impossible - to explain why Jews, although entrusted with special roles not demanded of non Jews, yet don't make God - God forbid - "racist" - the modern excuse for personal failures. Quite sure that were you offered their role you would have run - not walk - far into the mountains rather than change places with them. Have you noticed how Jews were also chosen to be driven out of their birth places, forced to evacuate their homes & sources of livelihood, harassed tortured & killed by authorities & the helpful populace among whom they lived peacefully for hundred of years? Yes this too is part of their choseness: to be born into a difficult path, endure extreme hardships, demand from themselves the highest standards of behavior not required of non Jews, yet remain steadfast in their devotion to God & avoid assimilation? Non-Jews always say: How odd of God to choose the Jews! To which Jews answer: Not news, not odd, the Jews chose God.

@Hashemechad 4 жыл бұрын
@Sabrina Shahab/ADMINISTRATIONBRAC Oh come on you're so naive believing this KZbin "scholar"! Let him prove his lies! No where does it say that non Jews are created to serve Jews! Non Jews are also not expected to treat Jews as "chosen" but simply as they are supposed to treat any human being on earth: with dignity & respect!! Contrary to the Quran & the "New Testament" which are full of virulent antisemitic diatribe encouraging the atrocities committed against Jews by Christians & Muslims throughout the centuries, Jewish law does not interfere with non Jews' beliefs nor mandate them to do any Jewish practice! In addition Jews are not interested in converting others to Judaism; they don't depend on others' acceptance of their belief as a sign for its validity! Christians & Muslims by contrast forcefully try to convert Jews - & all others - to their religions. In addition there are deep disputes within their own religions leading to bloodsheds to this day!! But it looks like your tremendous ignorance on Jews leads you to classical antisemitism with your claims that Jews are "racist" & "supremacists" when your own religion - if you weren't so ignorant about it too - continues its insane drive to convert others to its way of thinking, including communism, evolution & all other men made cults, you may subscribe to.
