What a beautiful journey The Last Kingdom has taken us all on! I feel very lucky to be living in a time where I was able to watch and finish this series. Uhtred never gave up we should follow in his footsteps. Hardships will come to pass. It is inevitable but we must never give up. I love this show so much! This episode was an epic series finale!

This ending was so beautiful, so perfect, this was probably the best end to a series I've ever seen. PS, the kid that Hild was bringing to the fortress is the third child he had with Gisela (his wife). Remember she died in labour in Season 3. Apparently Hild took him away and raised him. He's also named Osbert like Uhtred was named Osbert because he's the second son.

I’ve literally never loved a character as much as Uhtred. Agreed-from the first episode when he’s thrown into the water and we are graced with Alexander my jaw hit the floor. He’s just so stunningly beautiful, I was completed fixated on him from start to finish. It wasn’t just that he was beautiful physically, I really fell in love with his character. He was always surrounded by the best and most loyal people because you are the company you keep. TLK was a beautiful masterpiece and I will definitely revisit it again and again. One of the greatest of all time. ❤

That battle must have been to freakin traumatizing for Aethelstan, like that kid is a 15/16. And he spent the better part of a battle about to be pushed off a cliff, hearing men falling to their deaths behind him.

I was in Aschaffenberg, Germany in October and saw Eivor perform live (the artist responsible for the vocals on the Last Kingdom soundtrack). When she broke out some of the songs from the Last Kingdom, the entire crown became electric and we were overcome with a desire to retake Bebbanburg. 😊

This series made me cry more times than I can count. But I need to add one more to that count now. After seeing you cry it set me off🤣Uhtred's pain, suffering and sacrifice has finally paid off. The kid Hilde is with is Uhtred's other son who he hid away to protect him from Alfred at the time and beyond that, Edward etc. Also, what I love about this show and the books in general is that they're stories of unsung/untold Heroes who lived during times likes these but were never named and given their place in history due to conflictions in religious beliefs, jealousy of their greatness and accomplishments etc. It makes for a hell of a story.

As a massive history nerd, I love that more reactors are getting into this show. It's one of the most historically accurate pieces of fiction I've read and seen in a very long time. It certainly blows Vikings out of the water, and that show was supposedly on The History Channel. (Though, that channel is the same one that tries to claim that aliens made the ancient monuments, so...I should have expected wildly inaccurate history to come from its' programming.) This book series and this show have both proven that you can make a fully historically accurate story and NOT be boring about it. (The book series more than the show, but I think that's because the show had way more time constraints and thus had to tweak the timeline a bit, while the books could take their time.) History is full of fascinating and gripping stories. We just have to look for them. Bebbanburg still exists, by the way, but it's modern name is Bamburgh Castle. Unfortunately, the wooden structure that was originally there was destroyed by Vikings in 993, but the Normans rebuilt it out of stone after the Conquest of 1066. It's been added to over the centuries, but the oldest parts of the stone version of the castle are still there in the heart of it. Northumbria revolted against the new Norman kings, but the rising was crushed and Bamburgh was from then on the property of the English king as Uhtred feared, but knew would happen eventually after he was long dead. Of course, Uhtred as he was shown in the show didn't actually exist, but he was based loosely on a later lord of Bebbanburg called Uhtred the Bold, who was born in the late 900's and was assassinated in 1016. The writer of the book series, Bernard Cornwell, started writing the series after finding out he was a direct descendant of Uhtred the Bold.

The perfect ending to the perfect show! Osbert is the son that Gisela died giving birth to. Hild took him to protect him from his father's enemies. I love the conversation between him & Hild. It shows that he's just like his father. He has no interest in the Christian path. Can't wait to see how his story plays out in the movie. (Please no spoilers. I haven't read the books.)

If I may, I'd like to recommend another great show called The Expanse. Its set about 200-300 years in the future, and it goes for a more realistic tone than most science fiction shows. Its got great world building, interesting multi faceted characters performed by great actors, beautiful sets, creative CGI that doesn't come of as "too much", and awesome cinematography. And despite all these top tier characteristics, The Expanse's greatest strength is its deep, and mature writing. World building, story, charactersations and scripts, all some of the best the genre has ever seen. Personally, its one of the most rewarding TV watching experiences I've ever had.

i just finished the show and am literally depressed like there is no more uthresd and edward and father pyrleg ans aethelflead, finan , sytrick and all the characters i used to see every day like ppl i actually know in real life and that idea of all of that is just gone kills me , idk if i can recover from these lose bc thats how it feels like, that was a really beautiful journey that you part of ,i enjoyed watching your reactions after watched few eps of the show. i cried twis in this show and that was when alfred died and his talking with uthred ,and when aethelflaed died oh especially in her last scene with uhtred i literally cried a baby , that's it ive said it all ,one last thing if u can react to the BEHIND THE SCENES its so funny and we would like it to see as fans of the show even tho its kinda heartbreaking 👍😭

@@KristiinaBerg I tend to have a list of series that are highly rated and when i'm in the mood to binge on something, I pick one. Fargo was in the same list as Ozark, True Detective, Narcos and Top Boy. true detective was the only let down. The others are all very very good. true detective had some moments of brilliance (mainly in the acting, the story was awful). The last series i watched (other than tlk s5 and currently HOTD) was Dark. I'm upto s3 but i'm too busy and can't complete it, s1 and 2 were very good.

I'm not usually the kind of person to look too deeply into things, but I definitely felt baited and switched by Uthred's youngest son. The entire season put a focus on the other younger warrior in Uthred's group, a character who was around the right age to be his youngest son.
