This is Wrocław (vrowt·swaaf) Poland… and as each evening approaches a Lamplighter starts his rounds just as they have done for centuries.
Now preserved for the sake of history and tourism, the lamplighter serves to remind us of the types of work people did, that are now lost due to changing technologies and are now an obscure part of history.
For centuries, these nocturnal craftsmen, armed with long poles and the unyielding dedication of a postman banished the darkness with their flames.
Picture the cobblestone streets of 18th-century London, or the romantic boulevards of Paris - places where gas lamps and later electric bulbs transformed the night into the places we can only now see in paintings.
As each night approached, generations of these men embarked on their nightly ritual, gracefully pirouetting their way through the labyrinthine streets.
Their long poles extended into the night, setting aglow the these lamps returning the look of this place to another era one that is all but lost.
For the last lamplighters this isn't just a job; it is an art form - a dance of fire and glass that brings a new light to the city's night.
Through wars, revolutions, and the relentless march of progress, the street lamp lighters persisted, until the steady hum of electric bulbs pushed them into the dustbin of history.
And now they are all gone, along with the lamps the used to light… except… here in Wroclaw (vrowt·swaaf), home of the last lamplighters.

LOL! Not my best work to be sure. I felt so awkward following him around filming him... But i thought the story was interesting.
