Inside Buffalo’s Grain Elevators URBEX PART 2

This is part 2 of 2. This place is so well preserved it’s like a museum. Going inside these abandoned grain elevators Buffalo is both dangerous and fascinating. Some of them are amazingly well preserved and what I found in there surprised me. These grain elevators sit mostly abandoned. They are a monument to the labor force of not only this city, but the entire working class of the United States. But story of these grain elevators is more about the people that worked inside them than it is about the massive hulks that they left behind... They were called the scoopers. Grain Scoopers were once chosen from the lowest of the low to unload grain ships in Buffalo Harbor. For 150 years the work remained the same. It was dirty, dangerous and exhausting but in time, scooping became a job of honor and pride. They were the heart of blue collar America. By the turn of the 21st Century the scoopers faded into history. In the last years many were fourth generation but with automation their labor was no longer needed. THIS IS PART 2 OF 2.

I work for a grain elevator in vancouver, neat seeing what the equipment used to look like. And those "scoops" youre refering too are buckets and part of a bucket elevator or aka what we call them a "leg', receiving leg, shipping leg, transfer leg, cleaning leg etc etc. cool video!
