The 20 logo on the side is a twenty (not 2.0) as in 20th Anniversary edition. There was an issue with the engine cover potentially catching fire so they were recalled and pulled from manufacturing and shipped units until the redesigned ones are ready.

I've been looking for a '24 R for weeks and I can tell you there is no 2024 20th Anniversary edition. It only came in the '23 model. You can't get a '24 with black wheels. I just bought a '24 R but had to drive nearly 400 miles to find a dealership that wasn't adding an "adjustment" fee of $5-7K. The climate control is a big issue but you get used to it with some use. That said, to me, it's the perfect everyday driver and the perfect country road driver. Great looks, great engine, plenty of tech, plenty fast, and all-wheel drive, which is important to me in the snowy north. Very happy with the purchase and even happier I found a dealership that wasn't greedy.

Congrats...as a former MK7 R owner, who just test drove a '24 today....this thing is bonkers...the performance bump is insane, and I really mean that...what a machine....I guess I am going to have to be in the market for a '23 then....I did own a DSG, and it was great, but it's time to go back to rowing my own gears as it should be....also, the fact that they remove the shifter for the DSG models is a HUGE bother for me too...I don't know what to do with my right hand,...even when I owned two DSG models, I would prefer manual shifting using the actual shifter versus the paddles.....so, manual is the only way to go...if iI go DSG, it will be a used S3...decisions, decisions......

very unique 20th first off thought it was only for 2023 and secondly this one got a sunroof thats not a normal thing for the 20th but i think makes it better personally.

Deductive reasoning suggests Canada got their first Golf R one model year after the Americans. Also, while the American 20th Anniversary had "sunroof delete", the Canadian Anniversary Edition keeps the sunroof.

The hood is no longer supported by gas struts hence the feeling of a heavy hood 👍🏼

@@Dagot1948 There are literally no place for front fog lights on the Golf R's due to the air intakes on each side, Fog lights are only available on the GTI.

This is a Canadian market review video. The first R in Canada was the next model year after the first R in the USA. Therefore, 2024 is the 20th Anniversary for the Canadian Golf R. For waiting an extra year for the 20th Anniversary edition, our friends up north get the sunroof AND the genuine carbon fiber trim, where the Americans got "sunroof delete". If it's any consolation, American MSRP was slightly less, and the car saves a few pounds and gets a lower center of gravity without the glass roof.
