Good review. I think PTP should focus on making more original type of characters and concepts. If I want cool robots and transformations, I'll go to my local Target and get me some Transformers. Plenty of great Transformers comics out right now too.

I wonder if he designed the character based on the toys available for selling, or if it an actual custom toy? Transformers may have trouble going after a shop in China, but Patrick doesn't live in China. The comic did look well produced.

From my understanding, Patrick found a toy maker who makes these robots and worked with them to customize the parts so it fit with what he was going for. But that's just what I heard through the grapevine.

I backed Last of the Seekers. Thought I did the toy, but It turned out I just did the book. I must've had it in mind as I remember wanting the Renie cover, but then must've slipped my mind... I blame old age. I like the poker chips Riot Press packs. I have one from Ultra Star and one from Johny Phantasm. I don't recall if I got one for the Seekers, considering I only bought the book. I'll have to check my comic box. But it would surprise me if it didn't. Patrick tends to be good with customer service. Yeah "alternate" doesn't roll off the tongue. I thought the story was fun and, like you said, reminiscent of Voltron crossed with a bit of Transformers. Patrick's art is different, but I enjoy it.

Good catch! I have a bad habit of using filler words when I’m trying to gather my thoughts. I’ll try to be more mindful of that. Hopefully, I’ll get better over time.

That about as far as I got into transforming him too. I liked the mini comic, I can't say the same for the main one, tho. As always, grate revew👍

It really did feel as though the comic were an afterthought.

The toy itself is more robust than a Hasbro figure but the plastic is the equivalent cheap stuff Hasbro would use on one of their $15-$20 figures. The feet are too small and makes posing a pain in the ass although there's enough articulation to get some decent poses out of the robot mode. As a Macross collector the transformation being more complex doesn't bother me, although the terrible fish design and obvious Transformers grift does bother me. Books premise isn't bad, the constant flashback to flashback to flashback is not great and breaks flow. Dialog is over wordy and Eric July-levels of unnatural bad. I thought the cover stock of the book was really nice. It looks like a floppy but has a premium feel.

Is this legal? Like how do you get away with it; it seems like a direct copywrite violation tbh cus in any copywrite document about something like transformers its going to contain the core concept of transforming... Either way its tacky xD

I’m not really sure how Patrick is skirting copyright issues. It might have something to do with the fact that the manufacturer of the product is in China. A country notorious for ignoring copyrights.

Is it printed backwards lol. For me, when you went through the book, it is disorientating. Could you mirror/flip the video for future videos. I listened but couldn't watch.

Matt Bahr did the pencils but he’s said he’s not happy with how PTP inked them. He said he felt like it really altered the original look.

I thought the concept was good I just don't know about the execution. When he said there was gonna be a human female character in it I kinda rolled my eyes. He should of just stuck with bots. Sounds like you didn't read it that well but then again there probably wasn't much there.

There wasn’t a whole lot to the story. It felt more like a concept for a story. It was sufficient enough but it did feel like an afterthought to the toy. It could just be me though. Perhaps others will get more from it.

It really does take you out of the story. If you want to advertise your merch, I feel it should all be placed in the back of the book.
