I was learning this song as a beginner, a year ago. hardest thing ever for a beginner. I learnt like 10 seconds worth and my brain could not take another single note in after that. So I give up on the song came back to it a year and a bit later and I learnt it all in one day.. I think that means I'm moving up to intermediate... It's hard as a young man who learnt how to play from Marty Swartz, I lose interest very easily. But songs like this that I can play continually putting me in a trance, is what is keeping me around as a acoustic player.. I'm starting to get into soft melodies. Like Davey Jones locker, that song gives me chills

@adrianrainer28644 жыл бұрын
I'm not Andy Hillier, but I have really small hands and two things that helped me when I was learning were 1) push with the very tip of your finger, not the pad. Once this is your regular technique the callouses will build up there which helps. and 2) on your fretting hand, try not wrapping your thumb around the guitar's neck. Keeping your thumb floating behind the neck allows for some more curvature to happen in your fingers. Eventually you'll stop having to do it without even realizing it :)
@olliedylan13814 жыл бұрын
You just gotta push down hard. If you’re new to guitar it’s gonna hurt but after some time, maybe a few months, you’ll form calluses and it’ll suddenly become a lot easier. You just gotta persevere
@magnumbeefus4 жыл бұрын
Press with the tips of you fingers, eventually calluses will start to grow and it wont hurt as much as it would while starting out doing it.

I struggle with finger placement, I'm always uncomfortable with any position I try to have my fingers be in any time I play the guitar, sometimes I am unable to move some of my fingers in order to play the correct chords, I don't know why my fingers just won't move correctly when I want them to, it feels like I'm pulling on tight, heavy strings when trying to move my fingers to match the chords.
@konstantingeorgiev75213 жыл бұрын
Practice dude. You are going through the same thing all of us went through.
@laylamcclendon99103 жыл бұрын
@@konstantingeorgiev7521 Thanks for that, I've been practicing for a while now. I suck ass, but I'm getting better at it. Finger placement has been my number one issue though, I'm trying to work on that, wish it was easier, but not everything is. Like you said, I gotta keep practicing. Thanks again :)
@konstantingeorgiev75213 жыл бұрын
@@laylamcclendon9910 Dont worry about it and don't let it discourage you. Fingerpicking takes a lot of practice, especially when you have to use hard chords like F. Your memory will kick in at some point and you will start doing things fluidly. Also, if you are a beginner, try using thinner strings. It helps in the beginning.
