Great Recap. I’m watching it with 8 people who’ve not watched ANYTHING to do with it… let’s just say they were very visibly shocked at Sarah’s death thinking she was the main character, they absolutely love it so far!

I really enjoyed the first chapter, I felt the same emotions that I felt the first time I played the game and I didn't know what to expect, there was a lot of people hating it because Bella and Pedro doesn't looks like Ellie and Joel, but I wanted to see the acting first and I think they did a brilliant job... I can't wait for the second episode :)

Interesting perspective, I myself also had to watch the episode twice to just accept these interpretations of characters I have lived with for years, so it will take more time for me to truly accept them, and I completely get what you mean regarding the line delivery for scenes that take lines from the game, I thought it was pretty decent in a vacuum but as someone who knows these lines by heart, just hearing them in a different way or a different tempo was jarring. The best way I could describe it is like reading a book before watching its adaptation, even if the lines are the same, as I am reading the book, I have my interpretations and hearing something radically different, always takes me out. I feel like to truly judge it for what it is I need to separate myself completely from the game, because even though it is faithful, my first experience with this material was what I fell in love with, so I think I will need more time to truly allow myself to warm up to this adaptation. I will say I disagree with cutting off the Robert stuff, because to me that section really highlighted how brutal Joel and Tess were as smugglers and it was a defining statement by the game that this was a world were people had no moral high ground, maybe later episodes will highlight this, but taking this scene out from the game really felt like the show was holding back from truly exploring the characters as they were presented in the game. It reminds me of how Game of Thrones removed certain scenes from the book that depicted Tyrion doing morally questionable things in order to make him more likable. I don't want to sound like I hate the show or anything, it is a great show that is respectful to the source material, this is just a very subjective perspective.

Loved the review brother!!! Keep these up week to week!! Also on the actors portrayal point, getting Marlene's original Mocap and voice actress to be her in the show is PERFECT!! So many little easter eggs that I loved too! Like you said if they keep this up, we're in for something very special

well me and 2 of my friends are watching it together and we all are HUGE fans of the 2 games. I really like the first episode even tho I was kind of nervous about it but they pulled it off. one thing that me and my friends are upset about is Ellie. all due respect to Bella Ramsey but she DOES NOT look like Eliie from the game. she is trying so hard to be like her and I admit it she is on the right path but for now, we can't help ourselves to not nag about it 😆 Overall 9/10 its a good time to be a tlou fan.

I have exactly two complaints about the first episode and one is kinda unfair as a "complaint". 1. I wish they had Gustavo do a rearrangement of the original theme for the intro instead of one that either is identical to or just is the original music file. 2. The plane crash was a little over the top but it's also sandwiched within an obsessively crafted perfect recreation of the opening outbreak.

Interesting that you didn't like the line by line copies from the game. I thought that was some of the best parts. Playing it so many times that I can quote it.... to hear them say the same things at some points made me SO happy
