I‘m so proud of Druckman that he sticks with the original material. Best decision ever. I’m looking forward to every new episode and don‘t have to be scared that things will be messed up or cringy. I also like the personal touch Pedro and Bella are giving the characters.

And this is Why Neil Druckmann is amazing at what he does, the game cinematics will always be top in comparison, not bashing the show as it has done a great job of fleshing out side characters stories, putting some realism into a fictitious world and tbh Pedro and Bella have done their own thing with their respective characters which I'm not mad at. Hopefully this show will give Neil the opportunity to move into both genres, would love to see him create movies.

Both are masterpieces but I gotta hand it to Ashley Johnson and Tory Baker, the OGs, for this performance. Bella Ramsay and Pedro Pascal were stellar casting choices though, I absolutely loved the first season of TLOU show, can't wait for season 2. Best games ever made by a long shot imo

I don’t think they were ever gonna find an actor to match up with Ashley Johnson’s Ellie. Like, if Bella is truly the best actor for live-action Ellie…then that goes to show how unique of a performance Ashely had given because there’s no competition here, Ashley’s is the more captivating one.

I love the show but I'm a bit disappointed with this scene. We don't really feel the emotions in the characters. Whereas in the game, we are struck by the emotions, how they articulate certain words, how we can see severity in their expressions. Here, Bella doesn't seem so scared or angry. In my opinion, this scene was rushed. I don't feel a lot of fear/anger in Bella's voice, nor her facial expression/gesture. The part "everyone I've ever cared for has either died or left me" is like she's reciting a text. But hey, it's just my opinion

I love how the show is the same as the game but different enough to be identified. If they had repeated everything said and done from the video game. This show wouldn't be able to stand on its own feet. And we would've felt that the show relied too much on the game. Sure Joel in the game was more expressive in this scene. But the difference between animation and live action is expressed in this argument. You can convey your reactions and words more into animation because you're not under the pressure of casing a wrong expression. But in live action, there are ways to express your feelings with everything said and done in just one subtle expression. Joel is holding so much gried but has to maintain a strong shell of a man. You can tell from that one subtle expression he's holding throughout this conversation. The shift in his eye movements and the small fade and bold furrows of his brows are showing that he's holding back a need to lash out because he knows Ellie is right to dig through his barrier. Where as Ellie in this show, cares so much about Joel that she's trying to get him to react and open up. While Ellie in the video game resented Joel for being a hard shell that she ran away fedling like she was a burden to him. Both let to the same result of a very emotional and well scripted argument scene. But in a balanced shift between art performance and live performance. Sure. You can say the game did better because it was the first to convey these emotions. But the show did it on its own terms without feeling stiff or losing the heart and show of why we love the game.
