In my opinion James and the other guys weren't about to kill Ellie to take revenge for their dead friend. Killing Joel would've been probably enough justice on that front. I'm pretty sure, judging by the looks they give each other once David interrupts them, that it was more of a "mercy" killing. They probably know about his urges.

James showed his displeasure with David letting her go when James had the drop on her. He knew that she didn't kill his friend Alec, but she was with Joel and that made her just as guilty as far as he was concerned. Troy Baker said that James didn't like what he has become but was even more worried about being on the wrong side of David. He would rather be the second in command to David than to challenge his leadership. James and the other guys were the ones who were with Alec when Joel killed him, and Ellie shot at them as they got away. She had just shot at them for a second time so their desire to kill her had nothing to do with saving her from David. They wanted her dead because of Alec, because she in their minds had tried to shoot and kill them twice, because letting David have her would add another mouth to feed and in James's case, he recognized that David wanted her to be his second in command and threatened his position. Also, they are the few who knew about the cannibalism and weren't about to pass up on adding her to their store of meat. Winter lasts a long time where they were, and game was scarce and hard to come by.

The final scene of Joel finding a traumatised Ellie was the fist they shot for this episode. Being able to pull a performance like that out of her back pocket proves that the casting director actually did know more then those angry internet people when he cast Bella Ramsey.

I am a fan of the game and I wouldn't criticize it People are just too nonsensically critical. "OH it's NOT 100% the same as the game so it's objectively worse" and other clown ass takes they have, failing to realize that it's an adaptation and not a recreation in a completely different medium

Having played the game, my text to my friend was simply "They made David MORE of a piece of shit than he already was." You notice David didnt start eating until he made sure Hannah (the little girl who he bashed in the face) begun eating her father. And then he smirked at her while she ate. Episode further reinforces my immense distrust and dislike of religion as a concept. Its so twisted and manipulative on its own, after all, that's what it was created to be, and it lets people like David do everything they want to do while everyone else just sits around doing nothing to stop them.
@revafarleyleebiit Жыл бұрын
I think with people like David, even if it wasn'y religion, he would still try and control and manipulate others. Not all religious people are like that.
@kyledepaepe194 Жыл бұрын
@reva farley DIAPERS VP I didn't say anything about religious people. I said religion as a concept. I have Christian friends and family. My grandmothers help work for the church. My best friend and her husband are both Christians and so are their families, her family being people that treat me as a brother to her. I have worked with people who are Muslim and learned some of their beliefs and customs so we could accommodate them with a prayer room at work. I admittedly don't know many Jewish people but I do work for one. I've seen few men as dedicated to his family as him. I know there are good people out there who practice religion. I don't have a problem with them. I have a problem with the concept of religion. Significant difference.

@@kyledepaepe194 I umderstand. i am sorry for my misunderstanding. When you had stated that religion as a concept lets people like david do what they want as well as saying that religion is twisted, my mind connected to that as people. I am sorry for my misunderstanding.

The most unexpected sad thing about this episode is that the other dozen people that Joe-ellie left will probably die of hunger ? And even before that they will discover all the corpse (fresh ones or ancient ones). At the dinner scene, we saw women, childrens,i think i've even heard a baby. And sadly Ellie and Joel surely murdered all the men that could kill and hunt for food ... Also, there's a pretty high chance that these men had familes

As Joel says in the game: "everyone has a family" It doesn't matter which side you're on in a war, there are always families torn apart 😥

They were going to kill Joel after he had already been attacked and badly wounded by them. Insanity to leave attackers to do it again. The men should have considered it not Joel or Ellie.
@runninginharran Жыл бұрын
Basically, what you're saying is women aren't capable of hunting for food? New flash- women are certainly capable of hunting and killing if need be. Also, women do NOT need men in order to survive. Ellie is a perfect example of that. And yes, I am a man.
@bobisuncanny2760 Жыл бұрын
@@runninginharran Yes if they're not trained to survive, hunt and killing whatever your sexuality or your age. Unlike Ellie who was born lucky in that aspect. The episode represent David as the leader and the savior of all these people.Like from what we saw before Ellie and Joel kill everyone, it seems that they're just listening and following his directive and his decisions without any resistance like sheeps. Heck he bitchslapped a poor little girl and the mother was like : "Eh this is totally normal as David say so" .Maybe he didn't authorize any other people to be trained at hunting and killing. While David was searching for food or for Joel, there wasn't any woman in his group. The fact we don't see any woman that doesn't just cook and take care of childrens give me this general impression.Now that David is dead someone will take the lead, surely a woman because all the other man are old people. But with how rare animals are rare during winter. Idk if they'll manage to properly survive without big losses
