I thought the ending was more emotional in the game because when Joel comes into the burning building to save her, he witnesses her hacking away and that gives Joel a direct connection to what she was experiencing, thus allowing for a more emotional scene from Joel's end. Joel witnessing this moment also helps him understand that she is currently in a really dark place mentally, whereas now he has to infer it. You do remember that Joel is dealing with a life threatening injury that hasn't healed, he's in a town that doesn't know anything about and just because he sees a burning building that doesn't mean that Ellie is there and therefor he wouldn't just risk trying to enter a burning building if he wasn't 100% sure. The flashback episodes bring nothing necessary to the main narrative while reading up precious screen time that could have been used to make me believe in the Joel and Ellie connection. Right now it barely works... and then mostly because I played the game.
@eliteteamkiller319 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. Bill and Frank's episode is less important to the plot, but Ellie and Riley's is CRUCIAL to Ellie's character development. You need to see how isolated she was (doubly isolated because her sexuality isolates her too), and both how unwilling she is to trust people and how loyal and trusting she IS when she finally lets someone in. These traits are important to who she is, and therefore are crucial for the episode. . As for Bill and Frank, that episode serves more for development of the world, and a reflection of the human condition within it. But yes, they could have cut that out and not lost all that much. But the emotional impact of that matters. Because the world itself is a character too.

This would add to the episode and actually put a few more zombies in the show because so far they’ve been in the show for like 20 mins total. Well there is a difference between prophylaxis and treating an already resident infection , joel had peritonitis and sepsis which is a systemic infection in the whole body as the bacteria reached the blood, so injecting antibiotic intravenous and actually opening the wound and cleaning 'called peritoneal wash' then draining is the only effective way to not die from an infected wound like that , but injecting antibiotic into the wound wont treat anything , and also treating sepsis takes weeks not a day so everything pretty much in not realistic.

So it may be different with humans, but working in vet emergency surgery, sometimes if we’re removing like an infected uterus and there’s a chance some of the infection got into the abdominal cavity, we will squirt antibiotics directly in there in addition to the but cheek shot. So it could be effective for her to give it directly in the wound, although if it’s been weeks, it’s very likely the infection has become systemic, so it would probably be better to give it in a bigger muscle group that would then distribute the antibiotic faster.

@@robmassey9179 That actually makes it worse not better. If you are doing live action, you have to explain things you would just overlook in the game, not the other way around. She's supposed to be a smart girl. The first thing she would've thought about is how to cover her tracks so she didn't lead them to where she was hiding out with Joel and the same thing goes for the lack of people in the town at the end of the episode. They can't show all those people there and then just have them vanish at the end without explanation. It just doesn't work in live action that way. On the topic of the penicilin injection on the wound: its definately not the usual way to do it, its usually used intravenously for bioavaiability ou intramuscularly for slow realease and higher blood level over the day. Buuuuuut its definately not crazy or completely wrong to do it that way, one very rare way to inject venous medication is to inject it in the subcutaneous fat, its almost as effective to inject in the vein. The downsides on what she did is of course the management of the dosage... she just pumped the whole seringe and prayed for it, risking overdosage, renal failure and other complications on a already frail person, but without specific knowledge she did the best she could. Also one could argue that if he had an abcess on the wound (in need of drainage) the antibiotic would be lost in the pus, so could have been a less efficient move. thats the bad side of not having dosage information on the box or bottle, i know it helps prevent self medication but in some situations can be unhelpfull.
