I love how humanizing this moment is, because it really emphasizes that Ellie is a _child._ She's excited by everything new, she's curious, wants to touch everything... and it's not this museum clearly being a building in decay that gets me, it's the little detail of the gun tucked into her waistband. She does not carry that around because she thinks of it as a cool toy, but because carrying a gun is not optional for her. I kind of wish they cut this scene after the 'rocket launch' because that would have made it more powerful, IMO.

If its so bad they cant finish (which it was in some cases) then its not gonna get better with more play time.

I could honestly imagine some old scripts laying around in some store room and the new writers are like "So, how can we twist the knife a little more." And they dig up this old unreleased gem. Well, that's my theory anyway since I could honestly see this being a part of the first game, maybe as an epilogue DLC or something.
