This song was originally recorded as a demo cut in Nashville over a year ago. The haunting lyrics detailing the fall of the automotive giant GM and the Pontiac brand naturally led to the human side of the many manufacturing plants closures throughout the United States, but greatly impacting Michigan. This song and video is dedicated to those families who suddenly found the factory that for generations had been their family's employer, were just closing their doors ... and changing forever these towns and families!

If GM and China 🇨🇳 loves Buick then they should just keep Buick in China only and bring Pontiac back to America for enthusiasts to not only become GM's Mopar (like the GTO compete with the Charger and the Trans-AM compete with the Challenger) but also becomes America's BMW as well (like the G6 compete with the M3/M4, the G8 compete with the M5/M6, and the Solstice compete with the BMW roadster and Audi TT).

It baffles me why they chose to close down Pontiac instead of Buick. Pontiac was famous for making fun, sporty, iconic cars - the GTO, the Firebird, and the Solstice right before they shut down. Meanwhile, Buick never really had any interesting cars, and no matter how good a Buick is, it will never be able to shake the "old people car" image. I don't think very many people would have missed Buick, but Pontiac had a huge legacy behind it, and it's a shame that had to end. Hell, if they'd stuck around a couple of years longer, we might have seen a rebooted Firebird alongside the then-new 2010 Camaro.

RIP Pontiac. It was the only manufacturer that DID build driving excitement, there is something about those cars that makes them different from all the rest. But I can't stand GM and their awful idiot corporate mentality. Thousands of workers lost their jobs when Pontiac closed, but GM executives fly around in leer jets on the corporations budget and GM CEO's get multi-million bonuses every year. I believe if Pontiac was not part of GM, but a stand alone car company, it woulds still be here today.

+mrski you Couldnt kill a Pontiac .. We hit a deer doing 55 mph in my Mothers Grand am . We lived and the car survived ,only thing that needed to be fixed was the front bumper and there was a mark on the hood . That car is still on the road today Half a million miles strong last time i Checked . I see it everyday with that mark the deer put on the hood .

The demise of Pontiac was foretold decades ago simply because GM's first love was always Chevrolet even though Pontiac was more innovative. Every time you see a C3 Corvette (1968-82) you can thank John DeLorean and Pontiac for it. Look at the Pontiac Banshee concept car of 1964. Unions have their place but they've put a lot of people out of work.

My first car was a 1979 camaro. I thought it was peak performance from gm. Until I rode in a 1982 trans am. That was purely incredible. I traded in the Camaro for a pontiac sunbird because it's what I could afford. The sunbird is gone now but I have a 2008 grand prix. It's amazing that pontiac could build so much emotion into just a car.

My earliest memories of a car was my dad's red Bonneville, I don't know the year it was, but it had to have been earlier than a '66, because that was when I first remember seeing it. I always thought GM would dump Buick before they would Pontiac, I can't believe it's gone! When me and the wife got married in '81 she had her '80 Trans Am with T-tops. We rode around town in it with the "Just Married" painted on the back glass. Those were the days, gone and never to return again.

My freinds accord constantly has a check engine light, and my other friends Mazda constantly needs repairs and the transmission is going out. I picked up my first car, a Pontiac Catalina sedan with the Pontiac 400, back in April of 2014. It was built at Doraville Assembly in February of 1972. The original owner kept a copy of the build sheet, the inspection sheets when the car arrived at the Gainesville dealership on March 3rd with 2 miles on the odometer, the window sticker, consumer information pamphlets, and even the Protect-O-Plate warranty, dated 7-8-72. I wouldn't trade it for any other car, and I hope I never have to sell it. My dad's first car back in 1981 was a 1966 Star Chief Executive four door hardtop with a Tri-Power 389. His dad even owned numerous Pontiac's throughout the years. It's too bad that things turned out the way they did.

my first car was a '70 GTO in high school and I have a '72 Formula 455HO now. Anyone that says GM never built good cars is either young or ignorant or both. Pontiac built amazing cars for decades. Their engineers were always trying to find ways to skirt the rules and build fast cars inspite of the rules and regulations and most of the time they were very successful at it. The 70-81 Firebird/Trans Am's were among the best all around handling and driving cars of the era.

Funny that they decided to scrap the Pontiac and Saturn for lack of sales yet it seems like i used to see them everywhere RUNNING! Yet the Cadillac brand produced some of the crappiest cars ever from the early 70's to the late 90's. The only reason the Cadillac survived is because they put some bling on Chevy suv, called it Escalade, and every rapper and wannbe had to have one. Everyone wants a sporty car now, but in the mid 70's When everyone else dropped the ball,Trans Ams were still HOT.

what killed Pontiac was the transition of the 80's from carburators to computorized injection systems .And pontiac wasn't the only one to suffer from the transition so did Chevrolet . Both had serious electronic issues that caused the sale to drop to a point that there was no way back from it . we were in times when cars had to be reliable which both did not live up to and the third generation era of the 80"s completly destroyed the reputation of both assembly lines . I don't know how many cars in good shape i saw ending up in the junkyard because of the constant electronic failures in the 80's but a lot of clean cars ended up there ,. Problems that are easy to solve today but that even the dealers could not handle properly at the time .

Pontiac never made an ugly car, even in the 90s. They always had style. Its sad that the car companies don’t have style anymore, only car about the money.

Out of my 6 vehicles, 4 are Pontiacs. My pickup is a Silverado, only because Pontiac didn't build a pickup. My daily driver is a Toyota. Good little car. 3 of my Pontiacs are Trans Ams, 73, 75 and 81, all in very nice original condition. I also have a 2001 GTP (supercharged). I keep the Pontiacs in the garage..........the others sit outside. Does that tell you anything? Bean counters (non-automotive folks) killed Pontiac. Oldsmobile, another great car, gone. Sad. RIP Bunky Knudson.

It seems that every time Pontiac seems to have a fine two-seater, it doesn't make it to production or it turns out to be a flop. Look at the 1984-88 Fiero. It was a good but not great car. Then just when all the bugs were worked out, the Fiero got killed. Then came the Solstice. It came at the wrong time, right in the middle of a nationwide recession. Not only was it killed off, *ALL* of Pontiac got killed off!
